Removed Tire - Now have Noise

Post by justb68 »

My right front tire was removed to install my splash guard yesterday. Now I have a grinding or rubbing noise from that tire at about 20-30mph (most noticible at that speed). Almost like you can hear a certain spot on the brake or wheel rubbing...... It stops when the brake is engaged. Any ideas....

Verify if all the 5 lug nuts are tighten properly. If they are all ok, jack up the car and remove the wheel again, maybe they're something got sutuck in the brake caliper or something like that.Verify for any hanging part who can possibly rub on the brake or wheel.

The lugs weren't tight. The wheel must have been crooked when it came off the jack. Everything was better today! Thanks!

I would remove them, give em a spin and replace them. If you over tighten them on the reinstall, you can warp the brake rotors. This isn't always permanent so if you think this may have happened, get to it quickly.
