2005 Spare Tire Size

Post by hjwii »

Okay... so I read somewheres that the 2005 Matrix had a full size (16") spare tire. Does that mean the Vibe has one a true size tire, or is it one of those lil dummy tires? And one day, I will actually take possession of my 2005, and I will stop asking all these mundane questions and maybe, just perhaps, on certain days when Aquarius lines up with Mars, then maybe I can answer one or two questions.hjwii

I wouldn't bank on it.The vibe and matrix seem to very much be going separate ways in 05...That aside, there seem to be few cars out there with full size spares...I wouldn't even be too sure the matrix will have one...

The worst thing about those temporary "spares" is that I seem to see a lot of people (particularly those who appear to be economically disadvantaged) riding around on them far longer thanthey were intended and presenting a safety hazard to themselves, their passengers, and the rest of us on the road. You would think that our police would stop these people and (1) verify that they have auto insurance and (2) tell them they need to get a real tire in an hour or get a ticket.

But It is not a full size (I mean 205/55/16) but one of those little and very temporary trire, but with a 16" steel rim.

I know for a fact those little spare wheels and tires are much better then you think they are. Besides that, They would be great in the snow!

Bet you know that GM tests them to about twice the speed and ten times the suggested use! Besides that, They would be great in the snow! Not so! I had to use mine during our first snow last fall and they are absolutely terrible, worse than a 3-season 17" Dunlop as on a GT.
