50 lb kayak on my vibe?? Stubby antenna available?

The dealer says yes, but I'm kind of nervous about it. I understand that the rack is rated for 70lbs, which suggests that it should be ok. One of our Kayaking friends suggested adding additional supports and possibly some protective fabric on the days we'll be transporting it. Our old Nissan Altima had no problem supporting it, and that frame looked to be more flimsy than the Vibe. Thankfully, the antenna can simply be unscrewed and removed to prevent breakage. Is there an after market stubby antenna available for the Vibe? Thanks in advance!
