Battery swapout

I'm about to donate my Mazda 626 to the Kidney Foundation. Last month, I was forced to get a new battery (still warrantied). The Group Number for the battery is 58R. Unfortunately, the Vibe is so new, none of the battery stores have a listing for the Vibe yet. I was thinking of swapping out the original 325 cca Vibe battery with the one from my Mazda. Can anyone tell me if the 58R is the group number for the Vibe? The original Vibe Freedom battery says group 35 on it. However, I believe these batteries have been replaced with the Freedom II battery in the '05 Vibe. Perhaps it is a different Group Number?

never mind. I just called the dealer and he said that the group number (35) would never change, despite the larger cca in the Freedom II. Oh well. I guess I can't salvage any more parts from the old girl.

Mesure the battery and see if it will fit.The group number is based on the physical size of the battery.There's a little space around the stock battery, so a little bigger battery can fit.Just try it, you have nothing to lose.

OK, now you have really peaked my interest. Other than the physical size, is there such a thing as the "wrong battery for the Vibe"???? I am nervous about puting the thing in and having electrial problems as a result. Since I'm in DC, I have not had problems in the cold weather with the OEM battery. So as they say: if it isn't broken, leave it alone. Comments?

There is no wrong battery as long as it is 12 volts and physically fits in the battery hold down.

yep, thanks Jahntassa. I noticed the side posts on my Maxx. I guess that means I'm stuck buying a GM battery forever? on the Maxx, eh?

I put in an AC Delco 85-7YR, 750 CCA I think, it was a while back. Had to use the adapter that came under the new battery.

Especially Optimas..which, depending on the battery, will come with both top and side.I think I remember seeing that someone makes adapters to "convert" a top post battery to sideposts...
