Quick question on wheel upgrade

Post by Bobbyg123 »

I'm ordering a Base Vibe in the next day or so, and instead of upgrading to their factory alloy 16" wheels, I think I'll have the car delivered with the stock wheels and upgrade the rims on my own. Will the tires that come from the factory fit any 5 bolt, 5 spoke, 16" wheel? If so, that would be great because I could have winter tires put on the factory steel wheels. Thanks in advance.

The tires from the factory are 205 55 R16 tires. They'll fit any rim that can handle 205 55 16 tires. When it comes to wheels, not every 5 bolt, 5 spoke, 16inch wheel is the same. There are different offsets on the bolts, different widths of the wheel (from the spoke face to the rear of the wheel)...There's half a dozen variable. To give you a good idea of what will fit the car, go to http://www.tires.com and put in your car. It will show you all the wheel sizes that fit the car...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Any wheel width from 5.5 to 7.5 but i would look for a 7" wide wheel. They are common, will fit a 225/50 nicely in the future and is not at the extreme end of the current tires fitment.
Vibe GT, TRD springs, Progress bar, STB, Unichip, Borbet E 16x7.5, 225/50 Bridgestone RE750, beefed up grounds and battery bypass capacitors(had em laying around)
