RPM start up

on a cold start is it normal for the rpms to go to almost 2 and stay there untill it's put into drive? never had a car do this, wasnt sure if it was normal for the vibe

Yes it is.Do a search and we discust this many times in the past.To make it short, then engine rev. up faster until it goes to his optimal heat operation temperature
