Awsome discovery (chrome/leather base 5spd shifter)

Post by Mavrik »

At the dealership we got a few more 05 Vibes in (total of 5 now) and I walked past the new ones to see if there was any GTs in the group. Nope all Base Vibes but one has pretty much all the options at a price tag of $27,000 CAD. But what caught my eye on this one was the leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob. The shifter knob is what caught my eye. It looks just like the GT shifter everyone else has enjoyed on their 03-04 Vibes but now with a 5spd pattern.Once I get the price and availability of the knob (hopefully comes seperate from the steeringwheel) I'm going to order one. I love the GT shifter and now the Base has one like it. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Can someone try to get a part number? You have no idea how bad I wanted this. I was trying to figure out how I could make the five-speed pattern on the six-speed knob. Now I don't have to worry about that. I think that the leather/chrome combination that they came up with looks better than any aftermarket knob I've seen yet.

Yeah, it's really nice. The one that comes on the base 5 spds right now is rather ugly

So is this standard equipment in the base Vibes? I couldn't find any info on their website regarding the shift knob. There is, however, an option for the leather wrapped steering wheel rim.

Its a leather steering wheel and shifter knob package for $700+ extra.

How could you have one? we base vibers want the new leather wrapped 5spd shifter. There won't be any GM ones yet on E-bay unless someone just bought an 05 Vibe and now has it for sale... which could happen lol.I'll have the part number friday hopefully as well as the price for it.EDIT::::: PO# 88973885 (no listed price yet)

Sweet. Bummer there is no price yet. Hopefully it's less than the GT knob. I can't convince my wife to let me spend $70 on a shifter knob. "what's wrong with the one we have?" she'll say.

I posted the part number back on page 1.sorry about no pic yet. will see about that sometime soon. And the part is from source so no price or how soon it would take to get one. I would imagine its priced the same as the GT.

I found the part on http://www.gmpartsdirct.com and it showed the price (in what I will assume is USD) as $65.66 USD plus the shipping charges.

Did anyone make the purchase yet? Get a photo? (no image or good description on gmparts direct or at the dealer, just says 'KNOB') I want to make the purchase but with the high price and extravagant shipping/handling I want to be very sure I am getting the right thing...

well the manual transmission shift knob, the black rubber one is about $100 CAD... so I had parts price me out the other one listed and its Part Number 88973885 and listing at $197.75 CAD... YIKES! Thats still at least $150 CAD for those with GM discounts like I get.

I wonder if they have the wrong part number for the leather one? What's the deal?

What's the deal? The base Vibe on the lot, its VIN number brought up two part numbers for the shifter knob but did not show which one was leather wrapped like the GT. So I had them bring up both prices, logic would suggest the more expensive one would be the leather one... and that one was the $195 one, the other part number was the $118 one... Only way I would know for sure would be to order one... or get the keys to that Vibe with the leather option and spin off the shifter and hope there was a part number...
