Went to a local shop and they had a MSD spark intensifier, what it does is it jumps the power going to the spark plugs increasing the amount of gas being burnt, a good way to increase HP. Does anyone have one?

Many tuner cars in SCC have the MSD systems in their cars. Here is the link to the companies website http://www.msdignition.com/

I didn't see anything in that catalog that would boost our spark. I think he's asking about this type of product. http://www.ignitionsolutions.c...t.asp

According to that site, the cost of a set for a Vibe GT (Celica GTS listing on the site) is $580.Ouch.

would this be alot different than using sparkplugs with multiple points on them? ex: Bosch Platinum +4I was considering these, but can't justify the cost without knowing for sure that they improve performance.

This is the only plug I would consider as an upgrade. I use them. http://www.denso.co.jp/PLUG/iridium-e/ and yes they are different from the ones already in the car. Larger more intense spark.

The system is designed to increase the power of the spark going to the plugs in order to burn more gas in the cylinder thus a cheap way of increasing horsepower, doesn't damage the car but if installed incorrectly will cause damage. The msd unit is what I was shown it sends 470 volts to the plug instead of whatever our basic system does causing way bigger sparks.

We can't use a Capacitive Discharge system like the MSD. Our coils are part of the spark plug connector. One for each plug. The first link I supplied shows this.

Stock Denso iridium 100k+, Denso power iridium 30k. Anything other than platinum or iridium will be less.
