If you want to be able to use your dad's card you will need to have him place your name as a co-cardholder. That's what my girlfriend did with her mother. She only had 1200 points while her mother had 2700 points. Since her mother wasn't going to be buying any cars for the next few years (she's out of the country on business) it mades sense for us to use them (otherwise they go to waste with the new system). Call the number on the back of the GM card, and they will be able to help you out.
Base Vibe, auto, Neptune, power, alarm, 6 Cd with upgraded speakers, cargo mat, rear bumper protector, Stealth theft-deterent system. Ordered June 24 - delivery on January 24.
GM is changing the way you can use a GM card's points, if you try to combine that with a GMS employee discount. I received a notice in the mail stating that I needed to get a new GM card that only paid 1% toward a car purchase, if I wanted to use GMS. If I wanted to keep the old 5% card, I woul not be able to use the GMS discount. This is a new policy on GM's part, but I'm not sure when it actually goes into effect. I managed to use both on my Vibe, but then, I had very little saved up on the card.Good luck....

The GM Card is available to use with the Vibe, full amount on old Blue/Gold, up to a $1,000 on new Copper/Platinum. And until July 2003 still usable with GMS/Employee purchases. Always thought someone in the same household without their own GM Card could use the amount. If you live elsewhere, as posted, you need to be added to the account as a user. (Did that recently for my sister-in-law to buy a Tahoe, when I didn't qualify for a loan for a Vibe). Once you have more infomation post back, or as receommended call the GM Card people for advise. Good luck. (This info is from several other posts about the GM card, http://www.gmcard.com , and personnal experience)
I also advise you to call GM. I did and they were very helpful. It also is a bit of ammo at the dealer to have some facts about the card, I have found that most car dealers are ignorant in this area.
Abyss Vibe, power package, alloy wheels, 6 speaker system, cargo mat, mud guards and bumper protector!
The GM card has recently really irked me. I think it is some scam that they get unwitting consumers into. I signed up for 6 months of 0% financing for a balance transfer. Since then I have made purchases and paid off the balance for the purchases every month, leaving the balance transfer amount alone. I was shocked to find out that they were charging me interest. I turns out that if you have any amount on card at all over and above the original balance transfer amount, you will be charged interest no matter what you do. They apply payments to the 0% amount first so you are left with a purchase balance, on which you pay interest. Anyone else have similiar problems? Are all credit cards doing this?
