Here's a link to a recent story in the National Post (Canada) about the VIBE and Matrix. Some very interesting comments. I was very surprised that they mentioned a online web board dedicated to the VIBE/Matrix. The reason I was surprised is because it wasn't THIS ONE! I'll email the author to let her know about her 'mistake'. http://www.nationalpost.com/search/site ... DDCB467FFC

This really is the best Vibe site on the internet. I have checked them out and this is by far the best organized. A big old thanks to all those who maintain it and keep it going strong.

The problem is, I see this site as predominantly Vibe. Look at the name. Genvibe. I have a Matrix and have often felt chastised for that on this site. The only reason I am here now is because Matrixowners.com is down.

Your post from http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1594 My Matrix XR came with ABS. I think that the Matrix looks sleek and cool. I think that the vibe is horribly ugly, especially with all that plastic trim. I am shocked that people would buy a Pontiac when they could get a Toyota. How would you expect someone who made an educated, informed choice with their hard earned dollars, then waited 20 weeks to receive it to react to a statement like the above? Consider your intended audience when you post to a forum.

Yeah...RIGHT!Can you say: Pot...KettleI know there are other Matrix owners who frequent this board. Do you feel the same way as "Moreorles"?

It is rare indeed when two automakers get together, develop a vehicle and then both spin off a model that shares the same engines, transmissions, brakes and interior design -- but do not share the name. It is like having twins that are separated at birth. Not too rare. NUMMI has been doing this with the Corolla/Nova twins for a decade and so has plenty of experience. I have generally regarded platform sharing as a positive thing. Acura & Isuzu shared SUV's (sourced from Isuzu). Not to mention Ford/Mazda/Jaguar/Volvo , VW/Audi/Porsche & others that share platforms if not engines. It makes me suspect everything I read after omissions like that, but that is all I can find.....

Wow, you guys do your research. I am sorry about those comments, they were a little harsh. However, I will point out that that thread was opened with saying that the Matrix was for old people, and was less cool and uglier then the Vibe. I felt the same way you guys do. My car was being slammed and I took it badly. I apologize. I really don't have a problem with the Vibe. I do have a problem with GM and their lack of build quality in the past; however, I would think that the Vibe would be a very well built car considering it's origins. In fact, I originally looked at the Vibe, but couldn't bring myself to buy GM. It does sound like you guys got some good deals though and I probably paid more for my Matrix then you guys did for your Vibe. I may become a permanent member over here considering the poor administration over at Matrixowners.com. Matrixvibe.net is also not that good. There doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic over there either.

Pretty big names the Vibe was up against! I am sure we will see that in GM ads up here.

Yeah my dad kept a copy for me at home to read! Canadiandriver.com did not pick the Vibe for this category. I can't remember (and right now don't have time to look up) who they did think would win. Canadian Driver had their own picks for all the categories. So now I guess this means the Vibe is up for Car of the Year... if I read the story right.

I like the Matrix. It's not my perference but I still like it. No different to me than the Oldsmobile Omega, Pontiac Ventura and Buick Apollo versions of the Chevy Nova. I like the Nova better but I still like the other RWD GM X-bodies.
