exhaust manifold gasket

is there any need to change the exhaust manifold gasket when changing the HEADER. i was reading a one of the threads on MO and they said that u should change it out. any thoughts?!?

I would recommend asking the company that made the new header. There may be a difference in how the stock header and aftermarket header fit. Better to do a little research than have to wait for another part.

I would definitely change it out. The new header will seat differently than the old stock one. You'll get an exhaust leak if you don't.When I swapped a header in on my Sunfire, we changed it. Make sure you let the header get up to heat amd cool back down and retorque them. Do this a couple of times.It's cheap insurance in avoiding a headache of having to unbolt and install a new gasket once the old blows out and causes an exhaust leak.

Check to make sure the header doesn't come with one. You could pick up a stock one at a Toyota/Pontiac dealership or most likely gmpartsdirect.com.Actually, any parts store should be able to get you one. Check around for cheapest price.
