Bought a rear bumper protector today

Post by Vibe Rater »

$49.00 Canadian from a GM dealer. Is that a good deal?

It's amazing how much they charge for such a simple product, made of one piece of plastic and some double sided tape. I paid around $40 back when I ordered my Vibe.

Haven't actually installed it yet - waiting for some warm weather and a good day to clean the car and buff out some minor scuffs and scratches before putting it on. I'll post a pic when it's on.

I bought one 7-8 months ago from gmpartsdirect.com.I installed it but i think i could have place it better... My advise to you if you do install it is to have it 1/2 to 1/4 of an inch to the rear end of the bumper.Sometimes i think its a waste of money just buying it.

I'm still waiting for my lil VIbe to come in. But, when I ordered it, the salesperson was clueless, and when I tried to get accessories such as the bumper protector, I was told it best for me to order it myself. So, I did, and now I will have to put it on my car myself. Tell me, will this be difficult, or is it simply like putting a decal on a toy?

Mine came with a piece of paper that had an alignment pattern on it that you cut out and lay against the end of the bumper. It helps you center the protector, but if I had it to do over again, I'd just measure myself instead of using their template. (I didn't do the best job in the world!)The thing is just held on with double-sided foam tape, so make sure you have a clean surface and mash it down hard when you have it positioned right.

The Totota ones fit, they just don't cover the entire surface of the rear bumper. I got one about a month ago and it looks okay.Another thread about them:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=10386

my dealer threw it into the deal as she felt it was too expensive and a bit of an embarrassment....but $49 Cdn sounds good...i think i saw it for about $20 more than that at the 'dealer accessory shop'.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

I need to invest in one of these. I'm just afraid it's gonna take away from the clean look i've got going for me.

Makes more sense for monotone owners...I'm a two-tone, and I have one, and it just kinda seems like I wasted money on it.
