OK you VW lovers! who's installed a CAI on their GTI???

Post by AKLGT »

well, i'm helping my buddy install his CAI on his 04 GTI golf tonight. he's got instructions, but as we all know the factory instructions don't always give you the best way to go. so, has anyone installed one of these bad boys on theirs or a friends? maybe some pointers before we start taking his car apart?oh and btw, in exchange for this and helping install his bodykit, i get his 17" vw wheels for free. whoo hoo! something different than my fugly 17"s!

04s are soooooooooooooooo heavy, is it a regular Golf, by no chance in hell may it possibly be a R32?? qeuss not if it was i dont think youd need a intakei love the older golfs, dont know much about newer ones, but if it is a turbo, look around for chips, there IS a actual chip which opens up the turbo and adds 50+hp, ill see if i can find info

well i got it all installed, but took longer than i'd have liked. about 2 hrs. since he's got that damn 1.8T engine, we had to wrestle with the air pump hose to get that long enough to attach. what a pain in the (removed)! after install, it looks very good. now he needs a nice engine cover, a stb, lowering springs, tint, chip, and perhaps some interior work! LOL. now that he's single, he's got lots of money to spend on his car! oh yes, can't forget his new wheels he's getting next month most likely. and once he gets those i get his stock 17's.

Hmmm, install looks good.Don't know if I'd put the VDub wheels on the Vibe, even with center cap overlays. I say snatch 'em up and sell them!

oh of course! but not sure if he's gonna get a kit or not... wants to go w/ perf parts for now, but maybe a nice grill or something, some engine dress up and short shifter... things like that. easy enough for the two of us to install w/o requiring major work or auto knowledge! LOL
