When I mentioned that the Vibe pull to the left the day I drove off the lot this Saturday and the steering wheel was not on perfect straight, he said that GM policy is that they can't do an alignment warranty until the car has 1,500 miles. Is this true?

Welcome aboard!My warranty book had a bright yellow sticker on it that stated alignments, wiper blades, and the like were warranted only for the first 12,000 miles. I haven't seen anything that says you must have x amount of mileage before a repair is covered... That sounds kinda odd.If anything I would think they should have spotted that during the PDI, but I don't know. Perhaps one does need to allow some time to let the chassis settle in a bit before they can do an alignment. Maybe if they did one now, they would have to do another alignment later as the front-end breaks in? Not sure what to tell ya on this one, actually!

PDI? Assume you mean the infamous dealer prep. Do you really think they actually do anything beyond wash the dirt off? Grow up!!!! In the Bob & Ray car talk column they once wrote that the leading reason for an alignment was an alignment. Glad mine was o.k. from the gitgo.

As disappointed as it sound, there was almost no PDI. They did not wash the car, and I didn't even have an antenna when I left the lot, and had to come back. The car looked clean, so I assume they did.I think it's just my dealership. I know Vibe is "foreign." This is our first American brand in about 20 years. I hope I won't be disappointed.See my other post. My car is in the dealership for two days now. And I only got it this Saturday. High expectations????? Yes, for the price of cars today. Sorry, had to vent a bit, until I get the car back.

steering wheel angle can be 5 degrees off right or left of center per GM. but I would take it in to the dealer anyway and have them check it that is what they are for.
A PDI takes a mechanic who does it properly about 30 mins. He puts all the little things in place like (IE) antenna and such, Rim centres... pulls all the platic off. Obviously the place you bought it at didn't do that sort of thing. The mechanics where I work even include a test drive with the vehicle when they are done. Some vehicles if there are accessories to install can take a few hours.Clean up then cleans the car, usually a quick bath when it comes off the truck and then a complete clean when you buy and pick it up.There should NOT be a "your warranty starts at X many miles" Though with so little it would be hard to imagine the alignment is out. It could just be a steering wheel adjustment. Take it back but to maybe someone else... if they couldn't put your car together right the first time, I wouldn't trust them to fix it later.

mine done the same thing i called the dealer the next daythey told me to bring it in, they said my rotor had a flat spot on it from sitting on the lot so long,they turned the rotors (warrenty)and all has been fine since then

Verify that the car is EXACTLY the way you ordered it.(If it's an automatic) check to see if the plastic 'plug' is in place in the shift lock release opening, to the right of the auto shifter handle on the upper shift console surface.READ ALL the paperwork the dealership gives you BEFORE you sign anything, and be CERTAIN that the selling price you agreed on before is STILL the price. If you have a trade in, this is ESPECIALLY important, since the dealer has the right to re-appraise your trade-in if it has been a while since the original appraisal.Verify that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the actual car is the VIN number on all the paperwork, including title or title application and loan documents, if any.Don't hesitate to walk away if they try to jack up the price or add 'fees' that you didn't agree to. Unscrupulous dealers count on the excitement of the 'delivery moment' to rip off unsuspecting consumers with scams like 'Etch' (etching a registered serial number on all the glass of the vehicle WITHOUT buyer authorization and then charging $200 to $500 dollars extra.Report unscrupulous activity to your local media and consumer advocate agencies.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
Make sure you have an antenna (mine didn't)Check if the cargo cover and tie-down straps are in one of the floor compartments in the trunk area(unless this is an option now?)While you're in the trunk check that all the jack pieces are there.

I think your pretty much on the money there and you SHOULD get the key code thing. When I worked at the dealership and had to move cars around that got dropped off at night from the main area to behind the shop for their PDI inspection, the key code was always on the keys. As for a PDI check sheet, you can't get one. the mechanics basicly have a sheet that tells them what to do in each inspection for each vehicle, after doing a few, they know exactly what they are doing and just sign their PDI work order that everything is done. At least thats how we did it and your car would be washed to... otherwise it looks bad on the dealership. My car was washed twice before I took delivery of it. A quick wash after the PDI inspection and then another the day I drove it off the lot heh.Often whats performed in PDI inspections as well are any recalls if the vehicles are not being shipped with the corrections yet. This generally happens with new model likes like when the G6 came out we had to install these little rubber sealers on all the cars we had gotten because a leak was known to occur around the door handles. Soon however the G6 was arriving with that part on from the factory.And since the Vibe to this day still has no recalls, no worries.
