C'mon, That's Orange

Post by MFP 4073 »

Hello-Picked a new Vibe 2 weeks ago. Monotone Fusion base, w/ power option, moon & tunes, mats. So far so good, once I got my XM SkiFi installed. Actually, Best Buy installed the wired modulator. The rest I did myself. The cradle and radio fit perfectly in the square storage of the console.Things I dislike about the car: how come the lighted ring around the cigarette lighter, and the 115v cover over the AC outlet glow green when the rest of the interior is red? Also, that damn safety feature of only allowing the moonroof to close halfway? Am I too dimwitted to notice if my 5 year old's head is extended through the roof?Things I like about the car: everything else.As you can see, my gripes are pretty petty. I did have a rattle under the glove box, but found some of those plastic fasteners weren't completely inserted. After pushing those in, the rattle quit.I was driving a brown Taurus wagon, and although it ran great, it was a little hard on gas. Also, I'm turning 40 in Sept., and my folks drove a brown Ford wagon, so I really wanted a change. This is a fun little drive. I like this car better than any I've owned in my life. I bought it before to my Bday to have it for the summer. Also, one stroke for the moderators, I posted a help message about my User Name this morning at 6:03am my time. By 6:10, the problem was fixed. Outstanding. Thanks NSimkins!Although I have no interest/abilities when it comes to mechanical upgrades, I plan to keep my eyeballs on this site. Found a lot of great info here, since buying my Vibe, and also prior to the sale. Thanks,Jay

WELCOME!!! There are a ton of links to those things you were talking about. Use the search function to find out almost anything you need to know. And if is isn't covered, someone will cover it if you ask.

I'd also like to welcome you to the site! Hope you stick around and have a good time with all the great people we have here. I also hope that your new Vibe treats you well.As for some of the dislikes about the Vibe, I can understand. I hate that stop in the moonroof, too. I was looking in the tracks to see if I could find a sensor or switch that activates that feature so I could disconnect it. No luck yet, but I didn't poke around in there too much so far. And the green light around the cigarette lighter has puzzled us before. I think that this part is from Toyota and green is the only color that they make that lighted ring. They didn't bother to make one a different color just for the Vibe/Matrix. I don't know that for sure, but that is my thinking.Anyway, have a great time around the site and enjoy your new car!

Actually I think that's the British spelling. Canada probably stuck with the British spelling since that's where the English language originated

On the build sheet for my Vibe which I bought in Whitby, Ont. it is called Sunburst II. On all GM cars which I have checked on the lot (Grand Prix, Grand Am, Sunfire) it is shown as Sunburst II on the build sheet.
