Performance chips?

Post by GT_King »

Are there any companies that make a good ECU upgrade chip? If anyone knows of any, any input would be greatly appreciated.

ask TRDvibe herself for more info but i was impressed with these numbers that she got on her GT using Unichipfrom her cardomain.com page "Computer and ECU: I installed the unichip for my GT. Unfortunately, with snow on the ground, it makes it hard to really test it out. According to some recent dynos, it adds about 20% in low end torque and power! Not too much on high end power, but the torque is incredible! you can check them out in my favorite links."

wow! someone actually READ my car domain pages! LOLyes, if you do a search on unichip, there are a couple threads on it. larry was kind enough to point me in the right direction... and on matrixowners.com tons of info too. much much more than on here.

w/ the cai and chip, yes. it's not HUGE but you FEEL the difference, especially once i hit 4000 rpms. but i am toying w/ the idea of getting rid of the cai/unichip due to some financial reasons much to my dismay. but i'll wait and see what happens after this summer.

check this link out: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6971 that may answer more questions for you. i'm not positive on all the #'s and what not, but to me it was a good choice. the top end power isn't so much of the issue, but the low end torque i wanted....

TRD at what RPMs are you getting a 20% boost, i mean 1-3000 would only mak eit harder to drive in normal day conditions, but like 3-5000 would just make it easier to get to LIFT !!so were are these 20% increases spread, feel free to use as much detail as possible

It's better from idle to lift and doesn't feel much different in lift.

what he said! but i can feel a diff when i hit 3500-4200 rpms in the oomph... not sure if it's because of the cai diff from goodvibe. but yes, lift isn't as significant due to that better oomph. but i won't complain!

If anyone is interested I have a friend running a Group Buy for the Unichip for the celica... I can see if he can expand that GB to include the Matrix/Vibe.

Where is the computer located on a Vibe GT? Is it easily accessable? I am also looking into purchasing a Unichip, the cost is 699 plus s/h.
