exhaust routing similarities

Post by Smokin' Rubber »

My friend who owns a matrix XRS wants to buy part of an exhaust system for a celica in hopes that it'll be similar enough to how the matrix's is routed. Anyone know how similar the two exhaust systems are? (And yeah I know that the Celica GT and GTS have slightly different routing)

its not even close, our exhaust is routed to go over our twist beam rear and the celica doesnt have that.you could probably chop it up and make it fit. but its better off buying a new system.a good muffler shop could fab something up easier.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

well hmmm could he use just the part thats from the cat part of the piping to the engine? he wants 70 mm piping like mine and he thinks it'll be more expensive and yeild worse results if the muffler shop makes the whole thing. Which do you think would cost less?

from the cat to the engine? that would be the header and his would be exactly the same as yours and 2zz headers stock are better than many aftermarket ones.from the cat back you could go with a magnaflow its less than 300 bucks

Well I mean like for instance (he's not getting this but just as an example) the borla exhaust is not a complete catback exhaust, it has the muffler and a little extra piping that goes over the rear exhaust and finally connects to the old piping when it straightens out and goes through the catalytic converters. So basically the question is will this stretch with the catalytic converters(the one between the end of the "borla" muffler and the end of the headers) be able to be replaced by one from an aftermarket celica's exhaust. He doesn't want to replace the headers, just everything in between muffler, that he would buy, and the headers. He essentially thinks that a custom cat piping (like what I have) would give less horsepower.I dunno if that makes sense but hopefully it does

its still different and i doubt you find a system with a cat(plus our cats are in slightly different positions) the best bet would be the magnaflow it has everthing back right up to the stock cat (youll have to cut the factory piece there)its cheaper and smaller than the jp midpipe which doesnt have a muffler included(developed for sc matrixes but should work for xrs)
