I LOVE golfers.....NOT

Post by Merzbow »

Well, today started out as a horrible day. Got up early, called a million places to see if I could get an interview scheduled...no luck. I can't go to my friends house to play paintball because his idiot brother burned down his younger brother's bedroom (mom was pissed). Then my grandma calls and says she has made me her spegetti and to stop by and get some. So here is some good news. My grandma makes the BEST spegetti in the world. So I'm on my way already tasting the spegetti in my mouth. This yellow dot coming at me catches my attention...everything goes into slow motion and BAM!!! the ball smashes into the hood and rolls across the roof. OK, first off, I've been driving past this driving range my whole life (16 years) and NEVER once has anyone's car been hit that I know. So some how the idiot manages to slice the ball so badly it goes way to the right and over the 100 foot fence and colides exactly into my car. The ball left a nice sized dent right above the grill on the right side. The paint wasn't chipped and I know it can be easily fixed but COME ON!!! Out of all these years why did I have to be around for the split second that idiot sliced the ball. That ruined my week.

Yeah, it's a good thing I thought about that AFTER I drove about a mile down the road. Now I feel like an idiot for not stopping. Would it be possible to find a ball on the sid eof the road tomorow and go in there and get them to pay it tomorow?

You're lucky then if the courses and/or golfers can be held liable for damages....Here in Ontario - and possibly Canada I'm not sure -- when you drive by golf courses or driving ranges YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. They are not liable in any way, shape, or form if you get hit by a stray ball. Now - keep in mind that here in Southern Ontario you can't throw a stone without it landing on a golf course, so you might understand the trepidation that I have when driving....

kinda reminds me when of when I was pumping gas one time.So there I was, pumping gas, with my Sunfire GT, not my vibe, but anyhow...I was in the outside pump because that was all that was open, and a delivery truck drove past me, and his wheel happened to hit the metal covers to the underground tanks just right and somehow shot the damn thing out like a bullet into the side of my car. The gas station covered the repairs, but help was needed from the Police to make them pay.good luck dude, but you can prolly get them to pay

Too bad you don't live near me GT King lolI play golf alot too and I'm not that good but never have I hit a ball that bad before lol. That's pretty funny that you played through their yard (removed). That would be the funniest thing in the world to see.

Good luck man. Don't let up on them until they pay for it. Or better yet, if you can find out which golfer did it...

Well, they don't have a policy anymore. I called and went there. The guy was really nice about it. He wasn't being a d*ck. He said they used to have a policy but everyone would take advantage of it and would screw them over so they dropped it. My mom wont let me call insurance because they might raise the rates. SO the only thing left is make a police report?

If i were to aim to the left, it's possible to send a ball right onto the 401!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

You would think that driving ranges and golf courses in general would think of the little things like a major freeway two hundred yards downrange. LOL Jeez people lets use that head for something other than a place to put your hat.Almost as retarded as the people who build their homes along a fairway and wonder why golfballs fly through their kitchen window every other day.

I dunno, my mom's is being a about it. She keeps calling my dad and I lazy @$$ holes so I'm probbaly just going to have it fixed with my own money to get her to shut up. I can't deal with her right now, she's sick and crabby so I don't want to mention it to her anymore. Everytime I bring uit up with her about what to do it strikes up an arguement about something which then leads to her at me for anything she can find It can't cost that much to fix soooo I'll just go and ask around for a quote.

call someone that does paintless dent removal. If you were by Birmingham, I'd tell you to call Sharkey's Dent Removal. They're one of the better ones. i saw a hail damaged car that he did and it looked phenomenal.

If it helps any, I used to work for a large local driving range. We had people stop in sometimes with complaints similar to yours. The managers always took care of it, but I'm pretty sure that we always had to pay it. That's why the business carries insurance. There was a road that ran along side of the driving range's property and there were houses on the other side of the road. Sometimes the people who lived there came over claiming that their windows were broken by golf balls from our range. The local newspaper interviewed some of the neighbors and from reading the article, you'd think that our driving range was more dangerous than an open toxic waste dump. Interestingly, the reporters never came to ask us for our side of the story. We even had a 200 foot high net put up that cost over $200,000 to build. So if the place is refusing to pay, get some help from the local police as others have suggested. It seems to me that they might be trying to take advantage of you since you are younger.

Well my dad went in with me so...The guy was real nice about it. He said the reason they don't have a policy anymore is because people would take advantage of them and rip them off for accidents not even involving their driving range.

That sounds like a poor excuse because they should just be turning over the incidental damages to their insurance company. If the claim seems unreasonable, then the insurance company will fight it. Unless the driving range was just paying people off to make them go away.
