I ALMOST was very embarassed.

Post by Reynoma »

I get in my car on Friday morning to bring my kids to daycare. It is slightly dark out, so you know the auto-headlights are gonna come on. As soon as they do, > my dashboard goes dark. All the orange dash lights are black. I cannot see the speedo, clock, tach,...nothin! However, the headlights, radio, power windows and power locks still work. My initial reaction is that a fuse blew. I drop off the kids at daycare, get back in my car and start it up. Hey, my dash is back on! Great. Drive a few moments, > dash goes out again. I decide I'm going to drive right to the dealer and have them check it out. I would have tested the fuses myself, but because of the location of the fuse box, I wasn't going to try. I'm about 5 minutes away from my dealer when a thought passes through my mind. "My youngest son (3 years old) was playing in my car last night". I decide to try the "light dim" dial and bingo, the dash board lights come back on. Oh man, I thought, that would have been pretty embarassing to bring the car to the dealer and that was all that was wrong.Has anybody else brought their car (any car, not just the vibe) back to the dealer for a real dumb reason?

oh yeah Reynoma. I took my Toyota Corolla into my mechanic because the blower was not operating properly and there was a foul smell when you turned on the air. Turns out a family of mice decided to nest in the air intake. How they survived in there, I'll never know since I am a fanatic about washing my car, and the little critters must have been inundated with water each week.

I've let my stepmom borrow my car before, and she always uses the E Brake (I hardly ever do). I'll start driving and wonder "Why aren't my headlights coming on? (removed)?"

Eew about the mice..Yeah, that's one of the odd things about this car, the dashboard actually DIMS when the lights come on, instead of getting brighter when the lights come on...

Or the fact that you've got to let it out more to get going or do you just drop the clutch at 2000 anyways?
