Ok I have complained about the last month of an issue about the gas tank not filling at the pump. It clicks off the pump at every .20 of a gallon so a fill up takes about 20 minutes. Well I finally took my vibe to the dealership. The results are less than stellar after spending 5 hours there. They had no clue. First the called the Pontiac hotline for trouble. 6 other vibes have been reported as having problems.2 have reported that they left car runnin while filling up(big no no)2 have reported that the relief valve was pluged with dirt.2 I don't remember what he said lol!Now mine doesn't not fit into any of these catagories. Currently I have an open case with pontiac so if anything happens to anyone else similiar maybe they will find problem. Only thing is I have like 14,000 left on warranty and that will approach very soon. I tell ya what i can't wait till the pontiac dealerships can actually work on our cars!Wildand yes I am still very angry with pontiac because they have wasted so much of my time with maintenance issues!

Pisses me off.
The GM Vibe service manual (page 6-907) has the following possible causes for the symptom"Pre-mature shut-off of the fuel dispensing nozzle"- The fill limiter vent valve (FLVV) is stick closed- The evaporative emission (EVAP) canister drain hose is blocked or restricted- The EVAP canister drain hose line check ball is stuck closed- Any restricted vapor lines or hoses- The EVAP canister is restricted- A fuel with high reid vapor pressure characteristics- A high fuel temperatureSince you've had the trouble at different gas stations, the last two are probably not the problem. There's also a section for symptom "Difficult to fill" which has the same seven possible causes listed above, and also:- The fuel filler check valve is stuck closed- The fuel filler hose/pipe is pinched, kinked, or blocked
We have had the same problem with our 2004 Vibe... this problem started at around 3000 miles...I can only put fuel in short bursts, ten to twenty cents worth at a time....makes for slow refueling....been into the dealer three times and the problem is still not corrected....waited two weeks for parts....the dealer allegedly fixed the cause, but the problem still remains...Has anyone who experienced this problem had it fixed? Or has anyone spoke with a Toyota dealer about this problem? We love the car but if Mr. Goodwrench can't fix it, I'm off to the Toyota dealer
If I were you I would get a gas can for the time being. Fill that up and then pour it into the Vibe. A gas can can't shut off! You'd probably have to fill the can up a few times, but it would still be faster than 20 mintues!
I had this problem a few times, but not consistantly, so I doubt it's the same issue. When I had the problem, though, I was able to put gas into the car as long as I didn't hold the gas nozzle open completely (Let the gas in slower).
I've had this problem quite a bit with my car. I've noticed it happens more often at particular places though. Holiday stores being one of the worst. What makes me less concerned about it though is that I've had this trouble with all of my cars. The Chrysler Pacifica (*drool*) that I drove out of town a couple weeks ago was really bad. I've noticed that by putting the nozzle into the filler, pulling it back out about 1 inch and turning it slightly to the right, the problem goes away.
