That missalign on the throttle body for your CAI might be the cause... but to bad I wasn't closer I'd zip over with a scanner and get the code. Without the code there isn't much advice I could tell you... other then the dealer won't warranty a CAI causing engine lights...

well, open the hood and start the engine. aside from the normal clicking from the vsv and the sucking sound, try and listen for any air that maybe blowing out of a hole it shouldn't be. LOLmake sure you got all the hoses connected, the 2nd vsv thingy capped, and most of all, the filter is still on! i had that happen on the tundra.

I don't think it has anything to do with the pipe not being totally alligned with the throttle body... it wasn't off by much and that rubber hose was on really tight... I didn't see where Mike connected all the hoses.... Worse comes to worse Keely... Ivan and I can reinstall it for you.
yes, that's prob the most diff part of installing the cai.... wrestling it onto the manifold. took me about 15 mins to get it on there. but the rubber hosing should keep it airtight. usually it's the hoses that cause the probs. also, make sure you clean off the MAF. be careful you don't screw it up tho! take it out carefully, and use some canned air and blow off any dust particals. and make sure you reset the ecu... after that 3rd drive cycle in the ecu, you will know if it worked or not. if it comes back on, reinstall the factory box, take it in and have the dealer check it out. then reinstall it back. that's what i did w/ mine back in Nov. of course teh CEL went away, and i didn't reinstall my cai until i got the unichip in Jan. i sure did miss it tho!

Hey DJ, both of the "extra mods" are there, blocking the hoses. I pushed both in a little further in case they weren't sufficiently wedged in, but no difference.I poked around and everything seems to be on fine - the connection point at the throttle body is still on tight as JC promised. Other than the two little hoses that have been blocked up, I'm not sure what else I can look for.Hope, I did the "sound test" and everything seems fine to me. The high-pitched singing that you hear from the air filter is there (as is the actual air filter!), but everything closer to the throttle body sounds normal (at least to me). Thanks for all the tips you guys, I appreciate the help (and the warm thoughts also).

mass airflow sensor. You removed it from the old airbox tube and screwed it into the pipe of the new intake.this is a shot of a base vibe maf...not sure what a GT's looks like...

YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
it's the mass air flow sensor. that little black box thing that measures the air. shuld be held in w 2 screws on the top of the intake. be very very careful so you don't get anything on it. any kind of dirt, dust, water, grime, etc will throw it off. take some canned air and blow the sensor off so make sure it's dry and no nasties are on it. don't touch the sensor itself! of course make sure you reset the ecu by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for about 15 mins. then you'll have to go thru prob another 3 drive cycles. unless it comes on immediately. at that point, have JC and CC help you reinstall the factory box back in. see if the light comes on. if it does, then there's something else wrong and you should take it to the dealer... with the factory box on and don't mention the CAI.
Oh, that MAF!I just wanted to clarify that when I'm cleaning "nasties" off with an air can, I'm not taking any covers off or touching anything on or on the box itself. And for future cleanings, I assume this means that I won't be able to hose down my engine bay to clean it and everything will have to be done by hand in order to avoid any contact (water or otherwise) with the MAF. Is that correct?I've detached the negative terminal on the battery, so I'll see what happens in 15 min. There was a lot of rain this past week so that might have had some effect on the MAF.
no, you will be fine if you hose the engine compartment down. there should be a seal around the bottom of the MAF to prevent any unpleansantries from getting into the tubing except thru the air filter.but you do want to be careful you don't get the AIR FILTER soaking wet (as in completely water logged) or you will have a major prob!

If the MAF is sealed, what good can I do by blowing compressed air on the unit?I've reattached my battery and the CEL light is off for now. I'll definitely report back after 3 driving cycles, but keep the advice flowing in the meantime. Thanks everybody!

That is what I was thinking also. To clean it Keely......all you do is take the two screws off of the top of the MAF, should be X type screws, and then pull it out carefully....and use a can of air to clean it off. Then put it back in the same way that you took it out and then screw it back in. And if you do not want to do this......maybe Jackie or Irvin will be kind enough to do it for you.

Hello from warm and muggy T.O.! Keely, sorry to hear about your CEL... I can relate. I unplugged the battery, but I didn't wait for 15 minutes (maybe that's my problem). I will also have to check the MAF and get a can of compressed air. Still have to check my smog unit hose. All that will have to wait until I get back. I'm sure we'll get this problem under control.
