The July 27 autocross went off with great succuss...I'll have pics as soon as I get them into my computer. We had two Vibes, mine and Devlop's, we also had a minta and a Feiro go with usAutocross is becoming a quick adiction, its the most fun I've had in a car since my days in Highschool and parking lots with girls anyway the next AutoX is Aug 3 at Great Lakes crossing the cost $25for 4 lapsthen again two weeks later on Aug 17 http://www.dcscc.comhttp://www-personal ... /home.html
you don't need a GT, It's nice but not needed. As ashamed as I am to admit it by boy Devlop beat my best time by .2 sec, but personally I think he got luckly, or because of his shiny 18's, pro kit spring and sway bars... but when you ask him, he says its all the driver...It is fun and Hp isn't a must, handling is the keytheres a guy that I see out there all the time in a CRX, same class as mine and he's always kickin viper's @$$'s
Yeah, I can't wait for this season. I've got a new setup to run this year. Got the coilovers and a new surprise that I just recieved today. Gonna put it on this weekend.
OOO...OOOO..OOOO! Let me guess! Stickers! No, a l.e.d. exhaust tip! No,wait! L.E.D. washer nozzles! That's it isn't it! Or, no! it's, it's, it's a fire extinguisher! I knew it!J/K! I'm sure it's another quality product for one of the sickest Vibe's I've seen!
I wish they did this in my area, it always sounds like so much fun! I'd love to try it after fixing up my Vibe's suspension a bit.

Yeah you knew I wanted the CAI, you were the one who suggested Cosmo! And Cosmo sucks.. they sent the wrong size pipe. It's been two weeks and I haven't received the right one yet.
I'm sorry dude you said you wanted a cheap one. But anyway theres another AutoX this weekend. Let me know if you want to go, it's sunday outside of Ann Arbor, I'm taking the Miata out there.
Sunday June 13th, 2004 AutoCross at Great Lakes Crossing, Lower parking lot by RR Tracks.Begins at 9:30am for walk threws, regstration ends at 11:00-12:00? depending on the amount of people the last cars go out at 1:00pmMcssc and Scca member its $15 everyone else $25 dollars.I keep posting these but no ones coming, which you should its really fun and you can't really damage your car out there, at least come by and watch. hope to see some vibes out there.
I would really like to autocross my vibe. I am a bit paranoid right now because I only have about 1600 miles on it. Also, it is basically bone stock so I don't know how much fun it would be to run it like that. I think it would make me want to dump more money into it (which isn't a bad thing). I think I might come and watch at the very least.
I'm running a bone stock 93' miata with 201,950 miles on it, and last year the first couple of races I did were with a bone stock vibe. It would be fun no matter what, even in an old 73' rusty pickup.
The thing that sucks is that I swapped out my air box for a shortram and that would put me in a different class (from what I have been reading). But you are both right, it would be a blast to throw the car around under controlled conditions. Then I could see how bad of a driver I really am .
actually the short ram would put you in street prepared (class CMT) which I ran for most of last years. Stock you can change the exhaust, shock (not ride height) camber bolts, tires (not R-compound) spring stiffness as long as you keep the stock ride height, bascially you can change the parts on your car that would normally wear out over time. CMT (street prepared) you can change or add rim size, springs, full exhaust, intake, sway bars, Strut tower brace, frame bracing? and a few other things. This class is mainly bolt on stuff and usally the largest class. Last month I ran stock class in the miata and there was maybe six people in the whole class.either way its fun, and yes you'll figure out how bad of a drive you really are... it was sure an eye opener for me the first time out, and still is I'll figure it out one day or just have a lot of fun going sideways

What time would I start racing (aprox)?I'm asking all of these questions because I might bring my wife to run too, and she would like to konw the scedule of the event (in detail). Don't they have a separate ladies class.. I swear I read something to that effect on some scca website. O and what is the turn out usually like for one of these events? Thanks in advance for all of the answers... i wouldn't be asking if I wasn't really interested in going on Sunday.
Basically, the races end around one. So, you have to get all your runs in by theat time. Here's how it goes. When you show up, you register, then you go and have your car inspected by one of the techs, and then you can either get in line or hang out and watch. You don;t have to race at any particular time. There is a line that you wait in to race when you feel like it. You get 4 or 5 laps, and you don;t have to take them all at once. There isn't a seperate class for women. I've seen women out there running better times than the men. If your wife races, she has to register separately, so that would cost another $25, but you can use the same car. I'm showing up early because there is a car show back in my town that I'm in. Boy, I hope it doesn't rain.Anymore questions, just ask.
Actually there is a seperate Ladies class, basically you'll more than likely in the CMT Class and your wife will be in the CMTL class. I hope this helps, if you get a chance to buy some black or blue masking tape for numbers, try to find the stuff used for painting it leaves less glue on the paint after your done.
What happen ScottS did you make it out, well if you didn't get the chance the next race is Jully 11 at Wastenaw comunity college (sp??) out side of Ann Arbor directions are on the Alfa link at the beginning of the post.
well, for those of you that might be interested in taking your car around a road cone track in a parking lot the next event is going to be at Great Lake Crossing on August 8, first car runs at 10am so be there around 9am. cost to run about $20
hmmm, is this basically time trials? if so awesome, do you ever get to race on the track at the same time as other cars? if not thats ok, just wondering, it all sounds like good fun anyhow and my dad used to do this, when he bought the vibe he said(one of the first things actually) "if you se this up right it would be pretty good at autocross"
Yep, time trials. There are up to 3 cars at a time running, but they are spaced out enough so that no one is near anyone else. You should come out to the next one, I think its aug 8 at great lakes crossing.
