Riddle me this... on the new 2005 Vibe, it says that if you get the power package AND a manual transmission, then power locks are excluded. Is this right, or am I somehow misreading this?hjwiione day, when they actually make 2005 manual transmission Vibes, I will have one in a lovely shade of Neptune...
I believe I have read that the 2005 Vibe features "Programable" power door locks. This feature is only availabel with the automatic transmission. I would guess that you still get power door locks with manual transmission, you just do not have the "Programable" functions.
I rented a Camry recently, had power locks and auto tranny. When you shifted out of park, it automatically locked the doors. I did not like that. It was kind of spooky. Guess I've seen to many horror movies, homicidal cars haunted by evil, stuff like that, it was a bit creepy. Maybe it's something like auto lock when shifting out of park that is not included in the manual tranny models. Another reason to get a manual

And that's what childlocks are for!Yeah, it's probably because the GMs generally lock the doors when you shift in/out of park. This, obviously, can't happen in a stickshift. Many aftermarket alarm systems are programmable to lock the doors when the key is turned to ignition, and unlock when off. I didn't like the idea at first, but now it's kinda nice.

I like the idea of automatic locking, considering I tend to forget that when the rest of the doors are unlocked, the hatch is as well.I've seen numerous GM manual transmission vehicles that, like was mentioned with the VW's, will lock the doors after you reach a certain speed.

It's also a safety issue for accidents.A locked door is significantly less likely to fly open in a collision than an unlocked one. When I installed my remote starter, it came with a feature that will auto-lock my doors 3 seconds after I start the car, or 3 seconds after I take it out of remote start mode. It then unlocks them when I turn the engine off (or I temporarily relinquish engine control to the starter so I can leave the car and take the key). I LOVE IT!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
