Well it was 112 outside today (123 inside car when I got in it), the A/C did a good job cooling the front 2/3rds of the seat cushion, and the back section has thick foam rubber so it didn't cool down as fast. I think I will leave the elbow on, sure beats a really hot seat. The nylon in the fabric is good for wear and tear but not very good in the heat, kind of like having vinyl covers. The Vibes A/C doesn't cool the interior near as well as my old Neon (it had far less cubic area and windows). I have the max aftermarket reflective tint installed which helps. Salsa--just experimenting a bit, the duct is just taped on. Trying to get the most comfort out of the A/C. I have noticed over the past twenty years that Japanese cars HVAC systems are not up to the task when it comes to 110+ temperatures.

My 02 Sunfire's A/C couldn't do a good job in the higher temps. The service guy once told me the stuff the A/C system is made out of, combined with an undersized system (to save money), mean it just doesn't do quite as good a job as it could if it were properly designed.

The referigerant used now,r-134-a,or Suva(a brand name like freon)has higher pressures on the high perssure side of the a/c system when it is hot outside,and it's harder for the system to cool it down,and yes,the parts are smaller,but more efficient.It all boils down to the fact that...if something works well,it's bad for the environment...or,if gm makes something that works well,they'll change it for next year to a new design that works about half as well and call it an improvement
