I stoped by a dealer here in Maryland 2 day and checked out the 2005 Vibes rear subwoofer. It definitly looks like it will fit in older Vibes. Im going to buy the enclosure im not for sure if it will come with the woofer, but if it does Im going to swap out the woofer with a better one and run a seperate amp to it.
Dude, definitely keep us up to date on this. If it is not too pricey, I think many people will be going for this. And by the way, your avatar looks pretty sweet. I'd like to see a bigger pic of your ride if you have one!

'04 Monotone Satellite Base Vibe, 5-Spd. w/ ABS, power and M&T Packages
i doubt it comes with the speaker...especially at $130it's surprising how many things in this car you'd think would be ordered as one piece that are actually broken down into 5 or 6...i.e. the center console can be ordered in 6 or so diff pieces....
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
$130 isn't bad for a custom enclosure. If it fits, I'll definately consider it. The car could use a little more low end, but I don't want to use up my trunk in doing so. It's a 10" sub right?

Don't know if you can just order it, unless you do it like we are all hoping to do now.

Actually, they're asking nothing extra for the subwoofer.'04 M&T lists for $1,150, but you automatically get $300 in savings, netting a cost of $850. If you get both the Power and M&T packages, you get $700 total (instead of $300 each, or $600).This sticker actually shows the M&T going for $1,140, minus $300 savings = $840!, which is ten bucks LESS than the 2004 version!I guess the subwoofer sucks $10 out of your sound system. And, if my eyes aren't deceiving me, it looks like the base MSRP price went DOWN??? Looks like $15,915. Base for '04 was $16,485 (at least in TX)

ha ha ha! well add another $1000 to that price tag for here.. plus teh 10% "market adjustment" they tack on to rip you off even more! but if you know the right people, you can get a car for $500-1000 over invoice.
Mea culpa. I used jpg progressive compression to get the pic file size small, and it obscured the detail. The 2005 base price on the sticker is actually US$16,915, but that's still a couple hundred less than the 2004 base price listed today on the pontiac.com site.I'm attaching the full sticker at fairly high resolution, so it'll be a lengthy download for us dial-up users.

The price being shown on the pontiac website for the 2004 Vibe is including the $560.00 destination charge.

I'd kinda hope it doesn't come with the speaker, for that price. Although i'm sure the plastic itself wouldn't be that expensive..but for $130 for both, it's not really a "booming" sub.. Let us know though, i'm very curious..

Thats nice i was going to bulid one but for 130 bucks its not worth my effort. think it could be modded to fit a 12" ???

Depending on how the piece goes in there...the biggest problems are going to be depth, and airspace. I don't think it'll have enough room to fit the enclosed space most 12" subs would need..

Considering the interior volume of the Vibe, I don't know why an 8" sub wouldn't suffice. Seems if you have the proper enclosure, you should be able to generate reasonable-quality lows. Two things that concern me about the '05 design are 1) proper insulation and dampening and 2) lack of porting. We'll see.
well i have an 8" solobaric in a ported box. it gives a great sound... i tried 12's and 10's but the smaller solobaric outperformed them. if i could convert that sub enclosure to fit the solobaric, it'd be sweet! but then i'd have to figure out what to do w/ my 2 amps and wiring!
Part Number for the Subwoofer: 88973324Price: $192.77This price was quoted by two dealerships in Houston and both say that the parts are available (in Lansing?) and could be shipped in a week. Personnel at both places seemed to think the speaker was included with the enclosure. They had no diagrams available for it yet.I don't know why this price is significantly higher than mentioned earlier in this thread ($130 by Bocaj77). Maybe his is just the enclosure and mine is just the subwoofer. Also don't know about power (the grille on the '05 says "Monsoon").I don't want a sub bad enough yet to spend $200 on an unknown part.

Personnally, I would rather only have the enclosure (panel, actually) so I could install my own speaker/amp combination. But not for $200.Has anyone heard from Jacob (Bocaj77)? He should've gotten his part by now.**** 100th Post! **** Only 900 to go...
I got the part today it was the woofer and the enclosure but i need the outer plastic cover that is seperate. Actually cost me $115.00 Im now trying to find the part number for the outer cover so i can install it. I have a nice idea where im going to mount my amp for it once its installed ill have picts. Check out the pict of the inclosure.
No its the whole outer plastic cover if u check out n 05 Vibe u will c what I mean the cover does have the grill in it though. Here is a pict of what I need now.
Bleh..that woofer looks like standard cardboard speaker materials... Let us know how it sounds, i'm very curious!

Quote, originally posted by trdvibe »yep. the standard crap speakers. i want the outside enclosure... so i can put my solobaric sub in it. or if i have to, put in a better 8" sub.judging by the mounting space available on the bracket, I doubt your kicker sub will fit - mainly because it's square (correct?). Also note what looks like very minimal space...your sub needs a lot more (hence the box it's in), to work optimally..
well i do have a ported box. the other box they had was really small... and i kinda wish i had gotten that instead. but depending on how it fits there in the back, it may work. if not then i'd have to get a diff sub. i just really want my cargo space back!
Ok I got the 2nd part # today for the outer trim panel I should have it next week I will post picts when Im done. Im going to swap out the stock woofer with a Rockford Fosgate sub woofer and run a Kenwood amp to it, it should sound pretty nice.
bugbugbugbugJacob, could you please post the part numbers/prices you've gotten so far? I'm curious why your price ($115) was so much less than the one I was quoted ($192.77), unless my part number was for the entire assembly (subwoofer mount and panel enclosure).
Is the sub mounted in a enclosure like a small box or is it just like a baffle ?? I cant wait to see pics of your setup.. Looks awsome from the pic of the 05... My girl has the infinety system in her 03 tiburon with an 8" sub in the trunk and it thumps just eanough for day to day listening.. How much room is left behind the mag of the sub when you have it all installed like how much depth is there..
