Low hitch receiver & bike rack

Post by cvd6262 »

Well, I'm just about to order my Hidden Hitch and buy a hitch-mounted bike rack, but I have a couple of concerns:The Hidden Hitch's reciever is really low (only 10" from the ground). I know the ball adapter raises the ball up a bit, so I'm not worried about towing. My concern is that bike racks that fit into the receiver will be lower than usual. I know that there is a DrawTite rack that attaches to the adapter, where the ball would normally go, but it's not quite the quality of rack I was looking for. Also, I have a K2 Zed 3.0 with a small frame. Anyone mount one of these with or without a frame adapter?

Well, I've got the Hidden Hitch on our Vibe and I use a Voyager 3 bike rack that plugs into the receiver. It's the model that can pivot down when you need access to the hatch, you don't have to remove the bikes or rack.I've been carrying our bikes on the rack with no issues whatsoever -- they don't have any clearance issues. So I don't think you'll have any problems with whatever style of bike carrier you chose....
