Farewell gentlemen (and ladies)...

Post by NY Pete »

As just a few of you might be aware, I have ranted against GM's continued snubbing it has given to its manual base Vibe owners by not releasing a supercharger in a timely fashion (I was promised when I bought mine last March it would be only a month more!). I finally did something about it, I traded it in on a cherry, BARELY used Imola Yellow 2003 GTI 20th Anniversary Edition... I have to say I'll miss my Vibe, it was absolutely trouble free and probably the best trip car I ever had (especially knocking down 36mpg on the highway!)... But I just needed some forced induction, and what better way than to buy what amounts to a pre-pimped Volkswagen...I'll still pop in from time to time, but wanted to thank everybody for the advice and conversation over the past 2 years...!Oh yeah, pics...

At least it's not a Mazda 3! The GTI and the SRT-4 are probably the only cars I'd trade-in for! Nice find! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the GTI?

I hope you have better luck with your GOLF than I did with mine. That was one car that I was really glad I purchased the extended warranty, but it was a hassle every time I had a claim. It was like medical insurance, they were always claiming that they woudlonly pay the "reasonable and customary" charge which always was less than what I had to pay the repair shop. Plus, the dealer sold it to me as -0- deductibe as my paperwork showed but only paid the warranty company for a $50 deductible. The dealer covered the $50 but then this VW dealer, in deep financial do do, abruptly left town so after that it was on me. Got a little bit more even after they paid for a new radiator and then I heard VW was paying for that repair to anyone who complained so I get the VW money too! I hope you have good luck with your VW but they'll never sell me another one.

i just came from a golf to a vibe and there are big positives with both cars.the golf handles better than the vibe (it was like an extension of my body) but i'm liking the vibe acceleration better...and the practical/utility design of the vibe can't be beat (i carried single mattresses in my golf, with the vibe i can carry single mattresses and a kitchen sink!)in the end, a car is a piece of metal we throw money at to put a smile on our faces...so go with what makes you happy, either way you're still throwing money at it!enjoy it!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

My best buddy down in the Bay Area (I'm in Portland) is a VW freak, and I must say, a VW would be my next choice for sure. He just traded his '01 Tornado red GTI VR6 for a '04 Jetta GLI, gorgeous car. Here are our two cars last time I drove down there. Nice GTI man, great color!
