Salemen suggestion

Post by POLO »

I went to canadian tire todays,i ask a salemen wich wax is the best.He says to me to look at mothers it's no good, the best he say it's turtle wax and meguair. He show me the Meguiars Gold Class Clear Coat Wax .And,i start to talk about chamois,he say that if you use normal towel,is no good for the paint.I think the guy is not very trustful. And other thing,i found a site ho say((Dirt that collects in wash water, sponges and chamois will scratch your vehicle's finish.))in the link http://www.cartrackers.com/Buy....htmlHow a chamois itselv can scratch.

As long as you keep your chamois clean. It's just like a rag and it can soak in dirt.

I have used Mothers Gold on my dads' 98 Buick and it really brought out the shine. I like that and Meguairs both are very good. I want to try the new Turtle Wax and will use it on my friends 96 626 for testing.Basically POLO you have to try them first to see....bonne chance! Hey maybe we can have a mini wax meet in Montreal?

I thought I was getting 2-cans of plain Turtle Wax and didn't discover my 'error' until I got home and opened the bag. So anyhow, this coming Saturday, I will be waxing my baby Vibe and my mom's Grand Am. I will take before and after pics and post them so you all can see what you think.I was going to use Meguiar's but the cost of all three steps put it outside of what I want to spend right now. Had I bought all three steps, including the soap, I would have been in for over $40.00 and that didn't include our almost 10% sales tax!

It is usually very hard to tell from pics on the internet how effective any given wax is. There are also other things that can't be shown in pictures that are important to people when choosing a wax like drying time and difficulty to buff off. Your description of how the wax did and things you liked and disliked about it will be far more valuable in this case than a few pics will be. Of course, we still welcome the pics, though! As for how you seem to be comparing the products that you bought vs. the ones you considered you did not seem to make a fair comparison. Just buying the Turtle Wax that you did would be comparable to just buying the Meguiar's wax, for compairson. The other products that come as part of the three step system will give your finish a treatment that the Turtle Wax or just the Meguiar's wax alone will not match. I'd consider $40 for all three steps of the 3 step system plus a quality car wash soap a reasonable deal. But that's just me and I've got all kinds of detailing products floating around that I've accumulated over the past 2-3 years.

Quote, originally posted by POLO »He says to me to look at mothers it's no good, the best he say it's turtle wax and meguair. This statement I disagree with. I feel that Mother's is every bit as good as Turtle Wax or Meguiar's. I would have told him so myself if it was me talking to him. But I would ask him nicely why he felt that Mother's was a bad product.Quote, originally posted by POLO »And,i start to talk about chamois,he say that if you use normal towel,is no good for the paint. This is true. A dry regular towel will leave marks in the clearcoat that are usually called "spiderwebs". And a damp towel will leave some water behind that will cause streaks and water spots when the car dries. One time I bought an expensive real chamois and I hated it. I now use an artificial chamios called "The Absorber". Several others on this site use it too. I love it and I've yet to hear a compliant about it yet. We even have 2 of them where I work.Quote, originally posted by POLO »And other thing,i found a site ho say((Dirt that collects in wash water, sponges and chamois will scratch your vehicle's finish.))Yes, this is true too. If dirt gets trapped in your sponge, chamios, or whatever you are using that is touching your car, it will do the same thing as sandpaper. It is important to keep all of them as clean as you can.Quote, originally posted by POLO »How a chamois itselv can scratch. Like dsegundo said above, it is not the chamios that will scratch but the dirt that gets trapped in it that will cause scratches.Looks like you got a mix of good and bad information POLO. I'm glad you came here to ask for other's opinions before spending your money. I hope we were able to help!
