My friend just buyed a new honda civic, but when is see's my vibe with detail,he was more impress then new civic. But,only thing he found more advantage on civic,it is gas comcommation, and the smooth dore close. When you close the dore,is no noise, very smooth compared the close of the vibe, there where double caoutchouc to handle the impact of the dore when close.I wish i where a camera to take picture.
If the new design for the 2004 civics had been out at the time that I bought the vibe, I would have considered it, even though it is not a hatchback. The fuel economy those, especially the HX model (don't know what models you have in Canada vs USA), is really impressive. But, the 2003 was still out, and I don't like the 2003s.

The HX is a hybrid. I was considering an EX before I bought my Vibe. The Civic made noticably less power than my Vibe and still got worse fuel economy. Toyota still has the corner on the market for small cars that make the most power but still get the best gas mileage.

View by: Standard Features Descriptions TRIM-LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS HX | Starting at $13,710.00 The Civic HX Coupe is an excellent combination of performance and efficiency. Its 1.7-liter, 117-hp VTEC® lean-burn engine is one of the most fuel-efficient around. With its standard manual transmission, the HX Coupe gets an incredible 36 mpg city/44 mpg highway. You also get power mirrors and door locks, an AM/FM/CD audio system with 4 speakers, cruise control and a tachometer. There's an available continuously variable transmission (CVT) and, like all Civics, the HX is rated as an Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV). Therefore, one can't be the other and vice versa. At least I am pretty sure.

Each time I have been shopping for a new car where we were considering a Honda, we found that the actual price was considerably higher than the internet/consumer reports had listed. Mostly due to the "unavailability" of the less expensive model type. I have been told that the Honda dealers in the Phoenix area purposely do not stock base models so thy can increase their profits.

I was also considering a Honda civic base model. Both the base Vibe and Civic were about the same in price, but the Civic was a tad more expensive, but not enough to make the monthly payment very significant.Pros for the Honda IMHO were is excellent handling, higer resale value, better posted gas mileage, and quieter ride. However, the Vibes styling, more horsepower, storage space and more comfyness won me over.

You should be able to pick up basic civics cheap. When you start talking performance, and Si you get expensive. And Honda is expensive even used with alot of miles because they're the ****!
