Within the past month, I had noticed a noise coming from under the hood when I pressed the clutch pedal. It seemed to only do it in the morning when it was a little cooler and wouldn't be there anymore in the afternoon. The noise progressively got worse, getting louder and squeeking so bad that I could feel it vibrate through all the way to the pedal. I decided to take it in last Friday, making the appointment for this past Monday. Over the weekend I had my sway bars installed with rasermon and cohocarl and I was hoping to let them hear the noise. But sure enough, it stopped making it again. All I could think was, "oh great, I'm going to take it to the dealership and it isn't going to be doing it anymore." Thankfully that wasn't the case. Monday morning it was making the noise again. As soon as I got it to the dealer, I let the service guy hear it. He said he had heard it before. Unfortunately, their main transmission tech wasn't there Monday and they said that they were going to have to take it apart somewhat to get to the problem. So yesterday, the tech was able to get to it and take it apart to fix the problem. As you are all wondering, the problem was the clutch fork where there is a pivot needed to be lubed. Feels like brand new! Service was great and not too bad on speed except for the tech that had the day off.

I should run mine in too then. I have a squeaky sound every time I push on the clutch pedal. Does sound like a pivot point that needs lubed so that may be my problem as well. Thanks for the post Triton. At least now I feel better and know that there is a known problem and relatively easy solution for this.

If the squeak occurs only as you depress the pedal, it's likely the same problem I had. I messed with the pivot to no avail and eventually found it was the plastic boot attached to the firewall chattering as the clutch pushrod slid through it. A squirt of WD40, silicone or white grease will clear it up instantly. (Just look up above the clutch pedal and you can see where the pushrod slides through the boot.)
No, I'm sure now that the squeak is not coming from inside the car. When I'm stopped next to buildings (like at a fast food drive thru) I can hear the squeak echoing off of the building, so I know that the sound is coming from under the hood somewhere.

I had the same problem with mine and fixed it.the issue is the pivot arm that the slave cylinder pushes to activate the pressure plate. It sounds like a barn door squeaking. What I did was pull the accordian dust cover from the transmission housing.took a bottle of silicone sprayed into the transmission case. Note spray on the right hand side of the arm. if you spray on the left you can spray the clutch. not to much either.reattached the dust boot.and your done. The clutch feels brand new like I am driving a new car.Let me know if you have any questions.Nick

Heya...Yeah, I've seen that boot and, when I had my squeaky clutch problems, thought about pulling it off to lube but it didn't look like it would be easy to put back on.You used silicone, would lithium grease be the same or maybe better? Everyone seems to suggest using lithium for almost everything in the engine compartment. Might last longer than silicone?Dave
