Question about the throttle cable assembly.

Post by Kissfan79 »

Hey guys....just a quick question about the throttle cable assembly where it connects to the throttle body intake. If you have a friend hold the gas peddle down (or use a weight to hold it down as I did ), does the assembly the cable hooks to completely stop or does it still have room to move? When I press my peddle all the way down and then check the assmebly (as if I were revving the engine manually), the assembly will still move about 1/8-1/4"as if you could still open the throttle a touch more. Just curious....maybe I'll snap a picture or two to demonstrate tomorrow.Jim

Hmmmmmm!!! Must check this!! Could mean making a bell crank to use at wide open throttle to really achieve wide open throttle. I wonder if the throttle position sensor will even let that happen, or if the ECU will try and counter act it moving that far. ( Like shutting ignition, or fuel pump off momentarilly.! ) It's something I'll look into!! Thanks for sharing this info Kissfan79.

nah they should all have some slack,weapon-r sells a bigger throttle rotor to tighten it up the celica one should work. i dont know how the cables go in the cruise control so ive stayed from it.they also provide less gas pedal modulation but some people wouldnt care about it.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

This one is of the throttle assembly with the gas peddle to the floor. The gap between the arrowheads is about 1/8" or so. I did notice with the peddle to the floor (someone actually having their foot on the peddle) if I touched the assembly, it basically "pulled" itself to the stopper. I think your right....that there is supposed to be that tiny bit of play at the end.Jim
