Looks like we probably will be getting a '04 Vibe very soon. The car is mainly going to be for my mom since her '93 Escort is falling apart on her. A dealership nearby has 6 automatic FWD Vibes with the Sport package on them in all 3 of the available colors (salsa, satellite, abyss) . They are identical options-wise except for the color. They have almost all of the factory options on them (moon and tunes, xm, monotone, steel exhaust tips, power package, antilock brakes, sport package, 17" wheels). Only key options they dont have from what ive seen are the safety package and they just have the single-disc cd player with the moon and tunes package on it, no 6-disc player or navigation system. We are going to be taking one of them for a test drive this weekend to see how it is. Not positive on which color we'll end up getting if we want to buy one, but satellite seems to be our favorite so far.
welcome to genvibe! i'm sure you'll find plenty of info here that will help you make any decisions or address most concerns. good luck w/ your decision!

well when i bought mine my first choice would have been the salsa, especially if you are getting the sport appearance pckg. but then i would have gotten black... fusion would be first choice now... i got satellite because that's what they had and i haven't owned a silver car before.
We have another car that is a very similar shade to the Salsa, so we're not too sure if we want two cars that are basicly the same color. The abyss kind of hides the detail of the car. We're going to the dealership tomorrow to test drive one of them, so we'll take a closer examination of them then. Also, a friend of mine commented that the rear window of the Vibe looks rather small. Has anyone had any issues with seeing out the back of the Vibe?

I had previously driven nothing but 4-door sedans for the last decade, so the Vibe took some getting used to. It scared me to death to do lane changes at first, I couldn't see much when I looked over my shoulder. The thick C pillars and the small rear side windows took some getting used to. But after a driving it for a while, it isn't so bad. That's the worst part about visibility in the Vibe, everywhere else is excellent. Backing up hasn't ever been an issue for me, the rear window is on the small side, but visibility is decent back there.

try driving a ford focus... terrible blind spot from its pillor. Just ask my buddy Dave, we were cruising to a car meet and a woman in a green ford focus pulled into his lane and sideswiped the front of his 2000 sunfire and scraped up his body kit. She didn't see him because of her blind spot or simply didn't look.Either way the 8 of us all cruising to this meet witnessed it and pulled over to the side of the 403 and had a chat with her, got her info and off we went. She called her insurance and the cops afterwards and claimed my buddy had hit and ran. Well with 8 of us witnesses and the fact she left before we did screwed her over big time. Her insurance will not cover her damage and will go up $750 a year.Dave on the other hand buffed out the scratches and the car looks as good as new.

I test drove one today, and yeah i noticed that it wasnt that easy to see what's to the left of you in the blind spot. Other than that, it was pretty easy to drive. I really like the car myself. The fusion color is pretty cool, if it was easy to get the sport package on it, it'd be one of my top choices.
i had originally ordered a gt in abyss w/ the sport appearance package beginning of april, but then GM was no longer taking orders for the 03 and i'd have to get an 04, but then i'd have to wait til July for it. i needed a car asap! so, i had to take something on their lot. so that's how i got my satellite vibe, w/o all the options i had requested. still, it's fine, just that the folks impala is also silver.
The main reason why I want the sport appearance package is that it gives the car a different look that I like. I dont think i have seen a vibe on the road with the package, kind of surprising since it seems like a lot of you here have it.
Why is it that they only feature the sport appearance package in those 3 main colors when you can get it in any other color? I think you can get the sport appearance pieces in primer and then get them painted by your dealer (if they offer that) or someone else. I'm not really sure.
To buy it afterwards it comes primed if not in your colour. But its available on every colour from the factory if you ordered it.If I was to buy it now, it comes primed. I wish it did come on the car when I bought it, would save me one less mod to do and my car would be the only one in these parts with one.
