Somebody Give the 2005 Some Love...

Post by hjwii »

Okay... those of you who have seen, driven, or touched one of the new 2005 Vibes, tell me something good about it. Sure, the new nose is a lil pedestrian. But, still, I'm getting one, and I don;t want to be feeling this guilt in not buying the 2004 sooner (I mean, I tried to buy the 2004 back in March, but the dealer screwed it all up and waited till 2 weeks ago to tell me that my car no longer existed; now there are no 5 speeds w/ a M&T and power pkg to be found).So... c'mon... tell me what's different...what's new... what's good... because I'm going into this blindly...Thanks...

I think the option packages is what'll really do it. I'd want the traction control, as well as the pressure sensors in the AWD and GT. Pontiac hasn't updated their website, so I don't recall exactly what's available. We're poo-pooing it because we don't like the front end, but...I need to hold my reservations on that until I see one in person. I haven't seen anything other than that front end that would give me pause in an '05, except maybe OnStar. (just because I wouldn't want it). Take a look at the options available, and make sure you're informed about them.Don't worry! It's still a Vibe, and you'll still love it!

One thing that I noticed that I liked was the rear window sprayer. The 2004 and older would dribble one stream of fluid onto the window. The 2005 has two nozzles!!!! I might even try to remove mine and install the 2005 nozzle.

Some people are upset about the freshening of the front end, but it really doesn't look like it is that bad based on the pics. Unless a pre-2005 and a 2005 are side by side, 99% of the people on the street won't recognize the difference. Get the '05 and enjoy it!

My issue with the front is that it makes it look wider, and almost "fatter." That's all...I've always been a fan of the flush-mounted grilles...but it just doesnt' seem to work on this car...just MHO though...it is true, though, it's much less atrocious in person...

I have yet to see an '05 in person, but honestly, I like it... The sharp-nosed, ultra-aggressive styling seems to be smoothing out at Pontiac as a whole, so I can't really blame them for wanting the car blend in more with their new, or soon-to-be-released offerings. I don't really think it is going to kill the sales, if it does I sure wouldn't notice - I've gone two weeks now without seeing a single Vibe other than mine. They worked on a lot of little things that I think are good... I like the suppression for the passenger's side air bag if the passenger's seat is unoccupied, which mine always is. That would help save quite a bit of cash in the event of an accident, if the car can be repaired. I like the side curtain air bags as well. Stabilitrak and onstar are a bonus too. We finally get programmable door locks as well. And, last but not least, I'm glad they finally painted those mirrors!I honestly think the changes are for the better. Even if it the styling doesn't seem as racy as it once was.If I could afford it, I'd ditch my '03 in a heartbeat for an '05 with all the goodies. But I can't, so I'm keeping it!

The nose thing is common to Pontiac they always do that Look at the Sunfire how many noses did they put on that car, maybe it's just a transitional nose and they are moving to something better on '06 like TRDvibe said.

If anyone is looking for an '04 Vibe, here is the URL to the dealer I purchased my Vibe from. Right now, they have twenty-two 2004 Vibes on their lot. Maybe your dealer can get them to ship it for you?!? http://www.sunrisewolfchase.co...earch You can narrow it down by clicking on make and model. Hope this helps someone out.
