Security System Question

Post by MJN2 »

I'm having trouble finding the appropriate info for this, so I'll ask here.My insurance company requires I fill out a form to get a discount for having a security system on my Vibe, but I can't find what the security system consists of. The questions I need answered are:1. Is there a fuel, ignition, or starter cut-off?2. Is there a steel/metal collar protecting the steering column?3. Is the security system enabled after the key is removed from the ignition, or only after the doors are locked with the remote?Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1. Theft-protection system: full-function alarm includes motion sensor, glass breakage sensor, and fuel system shut-off.2. That sounds like a 'Club' or some other kind of lockable steering wheel device.3. The system will arm in about 10-15 seconds when you lock the car with the remote or if you manually lock the car from the door and then close it.

I believe...2. You are correct and in addition it is an aftermarket addition that is installed on the steering column and is always there. It is to prevent access to the mechanicals in that area. Basically like a sheath.Updated: Prevent thieves from breaking into the steering column to "hotwire" vehicles; some are installed permanently and others must be installed manually each time the driver leaves the vehicle.

This post should be in Audio and Electronics not the Vibe Lounge.

I didn't see that in the Owner's manual.Thanks! - Earl
