Interior Room?

Post by TooManyGames »

Heya, how you all doing?I've been contimplating buying a new car for a little while. My current car, a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, has seen better days. Now, I'm am quite the large man, 6'7", 350lbs, and being such I need a car with some hefty interior room specs, or at least a driver's seat that has some movability.Any fellow big guys reading, how does the Vibe fit you? Is there a decent amount of head and leg room?

My best friend's husband is a 6'5", 240 lb. football player. He sat in the Vibe and was astonished with the room he had - he said he felt like he was sitting in a minivan but he was still a sexy beast.Hope that helps!

welcome to genvibe! and you've found the right place to ask questions!you're 6'7"???? holy crap! well, if i were you, i'd definitely test drive the car and make sure the seat adjustments will fit to your liking. i know there are several large guys (and i mean tall and just big) that own the vibe and trix. in fact, there is one guy on matrixowners.com (the giant canuck) that is about your size. he says he loves his trix... and since it's the same inside, then i would suspect you'd be just fine.

He was amazed! Our cars look small on the outside, but really they are quite roomy on the inside.

Only 6' here, but going from my full sized Silverado to the Vibe I am very comfortable. I usually rub the roof on most vehicles because I sit up straight and do not slouch. I do not touch the roof at all in the Vibe. I have seen some comments from tall peeps that their knees or legs rub the center "console" bit where the shifter is located. trdvibe had a great suggestion tho, take a test drive! Try the GT, sounds like you will be hooked!

Standing in at 6'3" I have a lot of head room and the seat is not tilted back.

Since I've sat in everything under the sun, here's my take. I'm only 6'1 but have a 36'' inseam. The Vibe is borderline OK at these dimensions. The lack of a telescoping steering wheel is a killer. My arms are always straight out.My first place vote goes to the Malibu Maxx. I actually have to put the 6 way power seat forward just a tad after moving it all the way back. The Maxx also has telescoping steering to give you a perfect fit.My second choice would be the Ford Escape. I am waiting for the hybrid, and have driven the '05 gas version. It has very good leg room as well, but like the Vibe, also suffers from the lack of a telescoping steering wheel.Other than that, I've toyed with getting any driver seat redrilled into the floor, just to give me the room I need. Good luck to you. I certainly sympathize with your plight.

I can chime in on this one. I am 6'6 and about 270lbs and find the Vibe very comfortable. I primarily use the car to go from Virginia to Illinois and for the long trips its a very comfortable car. I have more head and leg room in the Vibe than I do in our Expedition. The only trouble I have is with the clutch pedal being a little small. I wear a size 14/15 shoe and sometimes have trouble getting the pedal down far enough to start the car or go into reverse. A shoe that size tends to catch either the brake pedal or footrest on the way down. I am actually getting better with it. The dealer swore up an down I wouldnt be confortable in the Vibe. He nearly crapped himself when he saw me in the backseat. Leg room is a little tight but seat position and headroom was more than adaquate.Bob

I have a friend who is near 6'7" and 350 lbs. He sat in my Vibe but did not look comfortable. He is driving a full size Lincoln.

I am not a very big guy, 5' 10" 170lbs. The head room is great, but I like to streach out when I drive so I could actually use a little more leg room. But it all depends on how you like to sit.
