Not that there's anything wrong with the Vibe's normal engines, but has anyone heard of any company or individual that has done an engine swap on a Vibe, like say changing to a V6? Just curious. I can recall that when the New Beetle came out and it was 4 cyl only some outfits did conversions using the narrow angle V6 motor.
I don't recall seeing anything like this done.. Not to say it isn't possible, but I don't think it's been done..

Somebody put a sc'ed 3800 in a cavi? DAAAAMN! I'd love to see pics of that...I'll pay any amount of money to the person who puts a turboed LS1 in a vibe.

I did see that saleen dropped a V8 (not sure of the size or type) into a focus svt and converted it to rear wheel drive and the pics i saw of it and specs i saw of it basically, you have to start off in second if you want to keep part of your tires, and u start off in third for most applications... 1st gear is strictly for smoking the tires!! now i hate the focus with a fiery passion. but i would take that!

If you read the 4th paragragraph of the link silver_vibe posted you will see:Quote »One look at the RS8 would suggest that its transformation from a production front-driver into a rear-drive pocket rocket was a study in simplicity. But in reality, Ford Racing engineers had their work cut out for them from the start. Beyond fitting the drivetrain, there was the challenge of designing new suspensions front and rear. FRPP engineers put together a prototype setup inspired by Kugel Komponents up front, and a rear unit locating a Ford Racing 8.8-inch differential while offering adjustable ride height using Multimatic dampers. The newly-designed rear-wheel drive conversion kit will be sold through the FRPP catalog.

Yes, remember that the Vibe is based off of the Corolla platform. If it fits in a Corolla then it should fit in a Vibe/Matrix.

I think it's the Focus RST or some sequenc eof letters like that lol. I want to keep my Vibe until I get old and then put in a v8 when I have enough money.
call me crazy but...wouldn't it be "relatively" easy to convert a vibe/matrix to an mr format? you could use the tranny and rear axle from the mr-2 (with some modifications ofcourse). just a thought.
