Best place to purchase supercharger

Post by fuente2000 »

I need everyone's advice on where would I could find the best price for the Vibe supercharger? I live in south Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and my local Pontiac dealer is asking almost $4000 for the SC!!! I don't think the engine even cost that much. Also how many of you that have the SC, installed it yourselves and how many had a shop do it? And how much did your shop charge you for the install?Thaks everyone!Alex

If you have the money this is the way to go.

you also need to have it custom tuned by a unichip dealer. you'll want to make sure there's somewhere that can do this. i think custom tuning will run about $150.. but that's the best route to go! even w/ the cheapest price for the gm s/c, you still have to pay $400 for install!plus, you get much better numbers then the TRD ecu system's.

What is "UNICHIP???" I've tried to find out what this is but I can't seem to get an answer. Can someone help me out on this? Also does a CAI System really add any additional HP or torque to the std Vibe? Thanks,Alex

I think the Injen charts show an increase of about 9horses increase with the CAI. Not sure if this is the site for the unichip but this is what I found I know someone here has it. http://www.unichip.us/

I'm not the expert here, but here's what I've learned from this forum and matrixowners.com.Unichip is one brand of aftermarket add-on electronic module that supplements the original equipment engine 'computer' functions. Here's a link: http://unichip.us/index2.htmlIt has hundreds of 'tuning points' to fine-tune the engine output horsepower and torque. It is especially helpful for modified engines when the module is custom-tuned to the specific engine and vehicle. This cannot be done at home, and is best done by a qualified tuner with a dynomometer. I also understand that it is possible to store the settings from the Unichip on one vehicle and write them to the Unichip installed on another vehicle. In this forum I've read that the Pontiac supercharger kit electronics module runs the engine extremely rich, so the engine produces less power than it could with proper 'chip' tuning on a dyno. I also understand that the Pontiac add-on module cannot be 'tuned'.

Unichip is a piggy back unit that reprograms your computer to accomodate for all of your aftermarket goodies to make your car run in harmony with them, and squeeze the most performance out of them that you can.The local Pontiac dealership gave me a MUCH lower price than that for a S/C a few months ago when I asked, if anyone is interested I can call them and ask again to make sure. I can also post the number to their shop so you all can see if they could possibly ship them to your locations.

complete factory supercharger kit is at least $2,400. I haven't seen one for lower price.

howerer it must be noted that.even though the supercharger is the same from toyota and gm getting the toyota one with the unichip may void your factory warrenty.if you dont care about warrenty this combo is cheaper and more powerful.

The supercharger also picked up more power after a few tankful (I double checked with my g-tech, another 1/2 second off 0-60 time), I guess it is due to ECU readjusting. total is 2 seconds off 0-60 time except now I am getting 21-23mpg

Perhaps it did not cool the air enough to make more power because of the denser air, but cooler air is more efficient....anyways , on the otherhand, I am all for anyone who will join me outside the warranty...believing in the reputation of a a great motor...behold the 1ZZ!!!!J/K ...but so far so good, I run at 9psi alot!
