Not sure...it could be one of two ways.. Either powered off the M&T amp (i'm assuming it only comes with that package). Or it's self amplified, and simply "borrows" power and signal from the main wiring harness..Do we remember which sub they're putting in? Is it a Monsoon? I hope not...

I've got a 2003 Vibe and just bought the factory Monsoon subwoofer enclosure on Ebay, it came off a 2005 Vibe (fifty bucks) I also got the factory monsoon woofer panel, got it from gmpartsdirect.com (part # 88973453 $247). fyi, if you order this panel also order the 'cubbyhole cover' that goes with it, it's NOT included with the panel and costs an additional $58. Also make sure you tell them the cubbyhole cover is for a monsoon panel, it's different size than the regular cubbyhole cover. Way overpriced but I couldn't find one anywhere else. I test-fitted the panel and it fits great. Mounting the woofer enclosure is going to be another story, as I will have to engineer something. There are 2 mounting holes on the plastic enclosure but the inside of the wheel well doesn't have matching braces to bolt onto (since my Vibe wasn't equipped with the Monsoon.) Also fyi, the Monsoon sub is NOT an 8 inch, it's a puny 6.5". Dummy me didn't measure and had to return the 8" Kicker woofer I got to replace the factory one. Kicker does make a 4 ohm 6.5" and I got it now and fits perfect. I'd rather have a larger woofer but I want a factory look plus need all my Vibe cargo room for drums. Gonna have a killer sound system installed with this woofer, will post how it comes out, along with some before/after pics.

thanks wolfman! I just got me Vibe couple months ago and first thing I wanted to do was upgrade the stereo. Mine has the 6 speaker setup and it's just not up to Nickelback and Soundgarden! Especially since I blew the front speakers, hehehe. I found this thread and it gave me the inspiration to try and get what I needed to keep the factory look and add much-needed punch with a subwoofer. I've replaced the front speakers already with some Infinity Reference series and am going to replace the rear doors with JVC Arsenal components. Also have an Infinity 5-channel amp and the Kicker 6.5" sub I mentioned. Should sound sweet.

I saw this kicker 6.5", but I thought everything was 2 ohm in the MT package? Does the 4 ohm sound good on the factory amp, or did you put in an aftermarket amp?
hello, I replaced the entire factory radio/amp and speakers. I added an Infinity 5-channel amp and a 1.5 farad capacitor (to keep the lights from dimming when cranked, hehehe), had to mount both of those by removing the plastic housing on the spare tire and mounting them both on a piece of plywood next to the tire. I also replaced the factory radio with a double-din Pioneer head unit, since my XM radio unit would not work with the factory one. The 6.5" kicker sounds MUCH better than having no woofer although I can't crank it up as much as I'd like lol. ( I didn't know the factory amp was 2 ohms output , but shouldn't matter since a 4 ohm speaker will work with 2 ohm amp, just won't be as loud.) Had the whole shebang professionally installed and probly spent upwards of $1500 I know that's alot but my Vibe only has 69K on it and I plan on keeping it about 10 years so to me it's worth it. I mounted the woofer myself, it fit perfectly in the right rear well and only had to drill a couple of holes in the inner sheet metal supports. The factory monsoon woofer cover looks great. Well worth the effort!

JIMTLOWE, by any chance do you remember or have the part number for the Monsoon speak grill not the whole side panel assembly? I just smashed my wife's speak grill in with a 5 gallon water jug . Speaker is fine though! Thanks!

hello again, I do see a part# for your grill, it's in the upper right corner of the middle diagram, labeled 'U65'. the grill looks like #3 and the ring that goes around it is #4. Good luck!

That part costs 436$ in Montreal (without the speaker). Can anyone get one for cheaper? Please PM me if yes. I'm an idiot for not paying the 800$ for the sound system
