We had a thunderstorm here on Friday morning. There was golf ball sized hail on one side of town, but when it got to my apartment it was only marble sized. But it was still big enough to leave some dents in the hood and roof. I didn't notice them until yesterday morning when the sun glinted off the hood just right. There are about 10 or so on the hood and a couple on the roof. I tried to take pictures, but none of them came out very well, the dents are not very big and you can't see them unless the sun hits them right. The insurance adjustor is gonna see them on Tuesday, I think my deductable is $500 but I am not sure how the whole comprehensive thing works.
I the same thing happen to my Sunfire last summer. First time I have ever had hail damage. I was lucky though and have 50.00 deductable on my comprehensive so I was able to get it fixed, and then traded it in 2 months later. (On hind sight I should have kept the money and not bothered getting fixed) Anyway, I took it to one of those paintless dent removal places and saved 200.00 over what the adjuster estimated! Hope it all works out for you.

As Silver said, definitely check into the "Act of God" or "Act of Nature" thing. My last car had $5k worth of damage from a bad hail storm. Basically, any surface of the car that wasn't completely vertical had 30+ dents in it.But, deductible was waived due to "Act of Nature." Worth looking into.

No such luck. Progressive said their was $1200 damage. And I do have a $500 dollar deductable. Oh well. But on a side note, I think my insurance man smokes crack. They have listed that their are 18 dents on the roof, but I only saw 1. And 4 on the liftgate, but there is none. The hail was coming from the opposite direction and didn't even come close to hitting the backend. But whatever, they said that they would adjust the quote up or down if they needed to. I am going the paintless dent removal route. It should be fixed by tomorrow afternoon.

When I got my hail damage my insurance came out the next day, estimated the damage to my car in the parking lot at work, and I had a check, minus the $50 deductable within 5 days. The best part is they have excellent rates too.

OK its official.....I am an idiot After I dropped my car off to get fixed, I began to think. I could have just taken the money and ran. (do, do do) I could have gotten an aftermarket hood like the SLP or if anybody makes one yet, a carbon fiber. But like the idiot I am I just decided to have the old one fixed. Please ladies and gentlemen, hold your applause. Oh well chalk that one up to one of life's lessons. Hind sight is 20/20 and all that. I will remember that for next time.
