There is no electronic limiter on the Vibe GT. Car and Driver claims the GT (in stock form) is drag limited to about 130. The base Vibe is electronically limited to 111.
Car and driver posted in their magazine that the base Vibe is limited to 111 mph. That is due to the electronic Limiter, I can't remember what the GT was...will have to find that mag again.

I've never made it higher than 100...and I certainly won't try to get higher -- once I hit the century mark, it felt like I was starting to lose control of the car...

Steering wheel very sensitive.

the most i've gone in the vibe is about 115 mph last summer driving up to fairbanks. in my 98 grand am se (4 cyl) i hit 104 when the gas cut off. in my tundra, i think i hit 100 mph, but saw all the gas get sucked out!
Well I had her up tp 115 mph, she seems to be very much incontrol. I was right behind a 2003 vette. The fastest I have ever gone in a car 181 mph in my friends 93 Saleen.

i've had my speedo reading 134-135... i know there is a margin of error in the speedo for anything over 100... and if i recall correctly, dmitri said he had his read 145+ so yeah... GT isn't electronically limited.. only drag limited... and "holy crap i crapped my pants limited" I was almost limited to that when i hit 135

And it was still accelerating quickly!!! What a buzzkill. Having a 5.2L V8 and not being able to use it to its fullest extent.
i here you with the Dodge's I used to have a durango RT converted to A sp360 here by shelby and it was limited to 115 mph. damn limiter, my gtp was limited to 120 mph.

Well not to rain on the parade here.....top speed in my Matrix XRS is 229km/h.....and I hit the limiter. I was doing about 7000rpm in 5th gear. So why they say the Vibe is "drag limited" is wierd. Oh well.....maybe just something that Toyota put in their cars. Wouldn't make sense though since the GT and XRS are mechanically the same.
Got me a new car!!A 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS S/C!!Black w/ black leather interior
drag limited means its areodynamically not capable of going over that. mods, weight, wind, grip ,road conditions ,etc. will affect this but you shouldnt be that much faster .the matrix looks more areodynamic to me
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!
Ahhh..........ok. Well either way........the car at that speed handles very well. No jiggling of the wheel. Does not feel lighter like some do. Felt very stable. Quite impressed.

My 2002 Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme had a top speed limiter and cut off at 97! With the Hypertech programmer it raised to 135, but I never got it there. I have had my Vibe base at I think about 110-115 on a trip from SD to Dallas while the wife was sleeping I was told by the dealership as I was test driving it that it would go to whatever the speedo goes to, which is 130, but never tried to get it that high since it takes so long to get up there, and I don't want to risk getting a ticket! I usually drive at 90-100mph anyways.

I've had my Matrix XRS up to the governor @ ~138mph. It was still pulling in 5th at around 7500revs but once I hit 138mph, the accelerator let off and slowed me down to ~130mph before it would let me gas up again.
I haven't had the vibe up past about 85, but when I had my Cobra I was racing some snot nosed rich kids in their dad's benz once and was doing 147 with the top down (and still pulling). I think that car would have been good for about 160 @7000 RPM in 4th. And for the record, I waved at their girlfriends as I smoked em like a cheap cigarette.
I have had my base vibe up to 190 KM/HR which is about 119 MPH. I am not kidding or exaggerating. Maybe some did not get the limiter? I also felt relativley stable which was a welcome surprise.I have an old Duster that I have hit 135MPH with but it did not feel safe at all.

Hi guys,It seems like Mase hit the Rev limiter. Has anyone else who's experienced the fuel shutoff check their Tach? It seems unlikely that GM would limit the GT to an unrounded number like 138mph. It would be more like 140 or 150mph. Granted the speedometer might not be exact at those speeds. Any motorheads have an answer? OH and Mase according to your post you hit 138 in 5th did you try to shift into 6th?
Quote, originally posted by HCguy »OH and Mase according to your post you hit 138 in 5th did you try to shift into 6th?I did try shifting to 6th on a separate occasion at that speed. It wouldn't pull at all in 6th (no lift) ! But it didn't slow down at all either...
I don't know about a limiter on the base vibe cuz i know for a fact that i've had my car up to 123 cuz i got arrested for it and i asked to see the speed and that's what it was, that hurt my pocketbook and my military career

I was on my way from Laughlin to Phoenix this past August, and got my GT up to about 104/105, but it felt light in the rear. However, I've already gotten a ticket (and arrested) for doing 114 in a 65 so it's cruise for me...

I've had my GT upto 135 in 5th and it was still pulling. My friend with the Trix XRS says he hit 139. From my understanding thou, the base auto Vibe is limited at 110 mph. The manual base Vibes can hit 120.
