Is it just me???

Post by DjDoubleLP »

Is it just me..........or is there little to none aftermarket support for the Vibe??? No taillights, very few bodykits if any. Makes me glad that I bought a Matrix.

Maybe it's that the Vibe already looks so good that there doesn't need to be aftermarket appearance parts like there needs to be for the Matrix Just kidding,I like the look of the Matrix too.lots of people have complained about the lack of body kits and such. I probably wouldn't buy one if they were available, but other members here would jump at the chance.

Yeah i would not want to buy one for my Trix either.....I like the way it is. There is an EVO 5 body kit for the trix that is out......and I am sure that the company that makes it would be easily able to adapt it to the Vibe. The only thing that would probably have to be changed is the front bumper......because if I am right the rear bumper mounts the same as on the Matrix.

i don't know if it attaches the same, but our rear back up lights are located in a different location than the trix. but i will look into converting a body kit like fookyman did on his voltz.

You can always have a bodyshop custom mount the back up lights.

There is very little support for aftermarket parts for our Vibes which upsets me. There are a lot of us out there tuning our Vibes, don't you want our money?

How about this? Everyone who wants mods send me there money? And I will "watch" for more mods and then get the real cheap ones and keep the leftovers. LOL Just kidding!Yeah it sucks that there is not as much aftermarket support for the Vibe as there is for the Matrix.

It is the import tuner curse. 75% of people who put body kits on cars do so on there Hondas, Toyotas, and Mitsubishis. That just leaves the other 25% for domestics. And you have to admit there are very few domestic cars that people even want to bother puting a body kit on in the first place. IMHO So I can understand why companies say there is no market for it. But on the other hand I would like to see at least one company who says screw the market research studies, those people need a kit! I am sure that there are a lot of people who might not want to put a kit for their car for various reasons, unless they saw one that they really really liked. Like me for instance.

Doesnt RKSport make a body kit for the Vibe?

I looked at RK sport and they got nothing for the Vibe. What I would like to do is actually be able to get my hands on a Matrix kit (without having to buy it first) and just hold it up against the Vibe to see how it would look. I know the side skirts and rear fascia will fit, its the front I am curious about. Fog lamps can always be moved in.Street Force makes a kit but so far nothing for the front fascia, only side and rear which is pointless in my opinion.

Well I am pretty sure that the front of the Matrix is different then the front of the Vibe due to the grill design.

Aftermarket bodykit makers must have decided that they wouldn't get enough business developing kits for the Vibe. They see X number of Honda's out there being tuned, and cannot get kits on the market fast enough, but only Y number of Vibes, and do not see a real profit potential. Maybe they are missing the mark here. I would suggest that people interested inkits let the companies making them know you are interested. If they see a market for the parts, they are sure to start building them. Ah, its ok really (IMO). Buying a body kit isn't really customizing the car anyway if 5,000 other people bought it and put it on there car. Prefer stock looking vehicles to the ones loaded up on fiberglass, with a couple rare exceptions which were done extremely well.

RK Sport makes aftermarket parts for Chevys. They are great to deal with and I bought some stuff off them for my 96 Cavy. I am bugging tuning shops here in my home province and actually got a response from one of them ( Genvibe thread http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9945 )Streetforce has had me waiting for a rendez vous forever and I think they are just not interested in the VIbe. The parts they have are way overpriced. And let me not start with the lack of parts (stock or aftermarket) for the Vibe in Canada

It's because our cars have an American car manufacturer's(sp?) name on them No one thinks there's any money in American after market parts unless it's got a 350 or bigger in it.

Street Force is just not on the ball right now. They sponsor a black Vibe with a body kit and everything... you'd think they would start making something for the rest of us.

I understand where you are coming from in that for the longest time there are not much aftermarket support for the Matrix either. And you look at the Scion xA and xB and they have a HUGE aftermarket already and they have been out less then the Matrix/Vibe. Even the Echo has as much as the Matrix does. Makes no sense what so ever. And having an XRS.......if I ever wanted to fo FI.......well that would even be harder due to the compression of the 2ZZ-GE engine. There is right now no S/C and I think there might be one or two turbo kits at the most. And even then they are not proven yet. Makes me want to trade up and get a Lexus IS300......more aftermarket support for that car.

The Vibe has relatively low production/sales numbers. Not a big enough market to justify investing in aftermarket product development.
