Calgary - Vancouver series

Post by Mr. Poopypants »

That was one of the best playoff series I have ever watched. I am all geeked that Calgary won. I have been a Calgary fan for as long as I can remember. I know we have a ton of hockey fans around here, so please what were your views on the series. By the way, I firmly believe that Bertuzzi would have made the difference in the series.

He probably would've been the difference, but that's water under the bridge. The Canucks didn't play with full intensity either, they were either playing hard, or were coasting. In a way, they deserved their fate.On the good note, I'm really impressed with the way Auld played. I think we could have a goaltending battle next year (if there is a next year!)

I'm happy also. That way the Detroit-Colorado series will be in May!

Speaking of which, if the next season is wiped out by a lock out, does that mean that this year's Stanley Cup Champions get to keep the cup for an extra year or does it go back to the NHL?

Unfortunately, I only caught game 7, but what an unbelievable game! It was great from start to finish and filled with all the playoff drama that only the NHL can provide. I may have to follow the playoffs a little more closely this year.BTW--I saw on ESPN that the Calgary win in that series was their first playoff series win since they won the Cup in 1989. That's pretty amazing considering the fact that they've had some pretty strong teams between then and now. I remember staying up late in high school and sneaking in some late night west coast games. I used to LOVE to watch Vancouver and Calgary battle in the playoffs in the early 90's. Bure was just so blazingly fast then, it was like he had an overdrive gear that could propel him at almost twice the speed of anyone else on the ice. Selanne was fun to watch play for the Jets back then, too. Man do I miss those days!

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed when the Pens sent the North Stars packing in 1991 with that 8-0 win to clinch the cup. Nothing like watching the North Stars getting a good shellacing.

NEVER underestimate the underdog. that's foolish! whenever you think you have them or it's in the bag, all hell breaks loose and you usually fail.

Well the underdogs (leafs) are probably going under in their next game... Come on they blew it 7-2 or something? Glad I didn't watch the game, I'd have had to shoot myself.
