Last year, I bought a cellular phone for my gf from Future Shop and took the 2 years extended warranty.Only few weeks after, she crack the the plastic who protect the display. The phone was working good until last week. It goes completly dead, now we are unable to even turn it on, and yes the battry is full charged. So yesterday I went back to FS to get a new phone, and the store manager refuse to give me another one. He told me the warranty does not protect against accident and my phone is defective because we were neglecting. He told me the warranty was void as soon the window cracked because we abuse of it. I argue with him for a moment and he never wanted to take back my phone. He told me if I want to got further, to call the Furture Shop head office and complain, which I did. After alling the head office, they told me to bring back the cell and a technician (make me laugh!!) will take a look to my phone and tell if the cell phone went dead because of abuse and the crak in the window or if it is a factory defect....Future Shop really suck and, trust me, I won't buy anything from them, ever.
Ben best thing to do if the store manager is not helpful is to call the district manager of your region. They are supposed to take stuff like that back anyways but I know also that they love to give a hard time. I always stay away.Let us know how it goes and what kind of phone did you buy?

I used to work at Best Buy in the service dept. When somebody buys an extended warranty, it does not cover abuse. However, if the abuse did not cause the fault, the phone should still be covered under warranty. Make them at least send it in for diagnosis as they are obligated to do so under your service agreement.

This is a warranty, not an insurance. warranty cover factory default, not idiot users.I have electronic background and I'm 100% sure this crack did not cause the failure. it is sometihng else internal. The crack happend when my gf sat down with the phone in her back pocket. The phone didn't received a hit, only too much pressure on the plastic glass. And how the hell a 8 month old crack can make a phone dying???Quote, originally posted by ArcVibe » what kind of phone did you buy? Yesterday, I went back to Future Shop. They accepted to send the cell to repair but they wantd to charge me $40 for the tech work!!What the hell is this??? I can get a new phone for free if I get a new contract. So I just told the manager to put this phone very deep exactly where I thing and keep it as I going just across the street buying another one.
