Post by VibeChick »

A big storm is blowing in...wind gusting to 100km/hr ...and I'm on the 26th floor...with floor to ceiling windows.I really really dislike the swaying building!! I'm sitting at my desk getting seasick!!

Yeah, I'm a big baby...I don't like the tall buildings moving around the way they do...Now I'm safe at home...ha ha - my computer desk is shaking from the force of the wind outside! The spring storms around here are crazy!

Ack, I think i'd get sick too. Thankfully, my building is only 3 stories high, we're on the 2nd floor, and we don't have huge gusts. I'm sure I'd lose my lunch if I were in your shoes VibeChick

he he, I always wondered where Milton went after that movie was over!Hey vibechick, don't feel too bad. The apartment building where I used to live was about that high and the early spring storms downtown sometimes made the building shake. The lights above the dining room table would swing. One night about 2 years ago we had a real bad windstorm and we had big glass windows like you have at your work and I could see them being sucked in and out as the wind blew. That night, 4 windows on our side of the building broke on the lower floors, we heard 2 of them when they broke. I was walking into my bedroom just as the building shifted and I stumbled and hit into the doorway as I was passing though it. I tried laying in bed to get some sleep, but try sleeping on an amusement park ride. I was getting motion sickness laying there, it was like being drunk and having the spins but they wouldn't go away. The swaying got worse, so I left and went out to sleep at my mom's house for the night. It was about 1:30am and I was on the highway heading toward my mom's and as I was driving, one of the great big exit signs (that was about 14' X 10') got up and blew across the roadway in front of me. Now that was scary! I got to my mom's house and a piece of the siding on the side of our house was laying in the yard and all the furniture on the back porch was scattered all over the back yard. The bbq grill was in peices laying in the lawn about 15 feet from where it was. I had to pick everything up and put it in the garage so it didn't blow away. The next morning I had to call my mom and tell her what happened to the house so she could call the insurance company and someone to repair the wind damage. At the time, she and my stepdad were working away from home in different states so I guess it was a good thing that I happened to go out there that night or everything would have been a mess for a week or two until someone came home.
