Post by philndz »

how the poop do you get the bolts off of the rear struts....i have put an allen wrench into the top to prevent the whole unit from spinning when i use the other wrench on the bolt itself......but it wont budge!how did you all do this????? its step 18 here: http://www.deepstaged.net/toymattein.htm

Justin and I had trouble with these as well! They're just SUPER tight! We put a bar on the end of the allen wrench for more leverage. He pulled one, I pulled the other! Make sure that you're allen wrench fits perfectly. You don't want it too small. It will strip the head of the strut!Just give it a little more muscle!

I used an impact on mine. The strut was also still in the spring compressor when I popped the top. I got pretty licky I didn't need to wrench mine off by hand with an allen and a wrench. If you have an impact let some spring tetion back on it (NOT MUCH JUST ENOUGH TO HOLD THE TOP MOUNT AGAINST THE WASHERS AND NUT) Then hit it with the impact and see if that does it. WATCH THE SPRING TENTION IN THE BACK THERE A LONG SPRING.

I didn't have an impact wrench for the first sets I changed, so I laid the strut assembly down with the Allen wrench braced on the ground, stood on the assembly and positioned a long handled wrench so I could push down on it with my foot. 220 lb. x 12" wrench = the nut comes off!
