OK, trying to decide which to go with. These are the only two options I have. I know there's better out there, but with my budget, these are the 2 to choose from! Going with 225/40/18.... Anyone had any experience with either one? The Hankook is technically an "all-season" and has a higher tread life. The Kumho has a higher speed rating....
I have the kumho 711 tire and love it. It handles better with more traction then my all season tires. Even though it is rated a summer tire, it has incredible dry and wet pavement traction. Great speed rating to.

Thanks! I just read them. I found this quite humorous:"I bought these for a 2000 civic Si 205/45/16 I bought them for an around town tire, they are great in the rain and even better on dry pavement. The handling is much better then i thought it would be, i have not been able to make these tires squeal during cornering or take off. The road noise is less than my winter tires. Highly recomended to the amature / budget minded person.""i have not been able to make these tires squeal during cornering or take off. "NO CRAP! YOU'RE IN A CIVIC!
I have Kumho Ecsta Supras...not sure if they're in the 711 family or not, but they are still an AWESOME tire.Mine are at the lower end of the Kumho UHP tire line.I'd recommend them without hesitation!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I have those Hankooks (came as a package with the rims) and I don't like them. It seems like I spin them everytime I take off. Let me be clear, I'm not doing 6K rpm clutch dumps or anything like that. I'm talking about making a right turn onto a 50 mph road and engaging the clutch quickly (not popping it) around 2K rpms so I can get into the flow of traffic. I can leave about 5 feet of skidmark in that exact scenerio. This is on DRY PAVEMENT. If its wet out those tires will spin right thru second gear under medium acceleration (50-65% throttle) in a straight line. People look at me like I'm some kind of idiot wannabe fast and furious street racer when I'm trying to make a simple trip to Walmart with my wife.I've never had Kumho 711's, but I had 712's on my last car and those things had MAD GRIP! Hardly spun at all under heavy acceleration and this was a car that had over 40% more torque then my Vibe. Rode nice too. I'm getting Kumho's when these Hankooks wear out (shouldn't take long). On a side note, tires.com has the Kumho 712's for only $4 more per tire then the Hankooks.HTH,ND

Kumhos! I just bought my second set of 711's. I race my car in SCCA Autocross and although the 711's are not the most competitive tire, I still manage to trump corvettes and such so Im very happy! As a road tire they are fantastic and i got over 25k out of my last set and that includes the autocrosses and fairly hard street driving from time to time. The price.....Can't be beat! If your on stock wheels then you can still boost your size up to a 225-50-16 and get even more grip!Enjoy your Kumhos!-Phil

Also....I'm sure you have looked but Tirerack.com works out cheaper than tires.com despite their free shipping. I think Tirerack is about $55/tire and less than $40 shipping for the set.
