Aw yeah! I finally found the Vibe I want, and best of all, for the DEAL I want. It's a Base Vibe, Shadow / Slate, Moon & Tunes package, Power Group, automatic transmission and 16" aluminum wheels. (Only thing it lacks is the monotone option, but I can live without it.) Had to call up a dealer 80 miles north of here but that's okay...since they're offering to sell me the car at factory invoice! Yeah!According to the invoice (which they faxed me), the car was shipped on the 17th of June and is scheduled for arrival at the dealership toward the end of the first week of July. I've already got a hold order and a deposit placed on it. This car's gonna be miiiinnnee.Just had to spread the joy! WOO HOO!
Huh; I thought it was special because nobody else around here would do anything close to it. All the dealers I went to in my local area (35 mile range) flat out would not offer anything lower than sticker. One guy told me "no dealers are offering anything less than MSRP on these cars" and another told me to expect anything less was "insane". I even spoke to the dealer in Detroit that I've bought five cars from (he's a personal friend) and he would only offer me $100 over invoice.Guess I got painted the wrong picture?
Actually I think I got lucky -- the dealer that's getting my ideal Vibe is very high volume and they tend to easily offer factory invoice prices. I went in there saying I had been offered $100 over invoice by a "competing dealer" and wanted to know if they would beat it. They answered, "We'll sell you this car for factory invoice." Wow!
No kidding; I thought they would. But if they had, I'd have just called up that dealer in Detroit and tried to get them to fax me some evidence. I know the guy up there pretty well; my family has bought six cars from him and he's been a great help. He knows if I still lived up there I would have bought the car from him.
