Engine Power

Post by Pump233ca »

Ok heres my question...I have a 2003 Vibe 5Speed Sport Package..I also have 2003 CorollaS 5Speed, ok now both have same Motor I assume the same Transmission(different linkage) the Vibe is lighter than the Corolla (almost 200kg) but the Corolla is Quicker to Ramp up and seems alot smoother over all..shifts etc, the Vibe seems almost sluggish when I go form one car to the other.. Any ideas or input?

the transmission gear ratios are the same for the corolla/matrix/vibe 5 speedare the tires the same size?maybe the difference between the toyota and GM ECUs,? Has it always been that way, or has the difference developed over time? How does it feel if you add the weight difference to the corolla?

My thinking was that the corollaS had the vvtl-i engine in it while the base 5spd has the vvt-i? I'm probably wrong as usual

All three Corollas share the same VVT-i engine. The VVTL-i will be used in the upcoming Corolla XRS.Quote, originally posted by wicked1981 »Thats weird when I looked on the drivers side door the sticker says it weight 2880lb.... That sucks!! They may be lighter than the older ones. *shrug*Also, each trim is a different weight (again, 2004 numbers):Base: 2,700 AWD: 2,980GT: 2,780 Same for the Corolla (2004 numbers):(Manual / Automatic)CE: 2,502 / 2,568S: 2,524 / 2,590LE: 2,524 / 2,590

so what is the difference between the engines on the S/CE/LE? why would you give it an "S" if all you do is put a letter on it and side skirts?

All 3 models use the "All-aluminum 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-i 4-cylinder 130 hp @ 6,000 rpm; 125 lb.-ft. @ 4,200 rpm" engine. As to differences, it appears they are purely cosmetic and feature-oriented. the S package is just an exterior package... the lower rockers, spoiler, etc. i thnk it has some "sport tuned" suspension but nothing more. i almost purchase one in indigo ink. then was disappointed to find that indeed it did not have teh vvtl-i engine, but the vvt-i. mike's right, the corolla gts will be coming out in 05 w/ the vvtl-i.
