Paint problem

Post by bckersey »

Because of the chipping, my dad got my hood repainted for me. So when he brought the car home I decided to put a nice coat of wax on it. That was two days ago. Today he told me that I am not supposed to put anything on the paint for 60 days, including wax. I told him that I already waxed the car and thanked him for the late news. He thinks the paint is going to dull because it will not be able to set properly. Any opinions/recommendations on this?

I'd talk to the paint shop...but when my new hood was painted in October, it had wax on it by the time I picked it up, about 2 days lter...should be ok IMHO.

i have to agree. when i had to get my old camaro repainted after a wreck they told me not to touch it with anything for 2 days so the paint can cure, it was ok to wash and wax after that. But all that really depends on what kind of chemicals it is made of.
