What do your aftermarket wheels wiegh?

Hey there all. If any of ou have aftermarket wheels? How much do they weigh? What type of manufacturing method was used for them? How much did you pay for them? W here did you get them? Just curious to see what everyone has...

You might want to be more specific, but I'll take a stab. 17" wheels can vary between 13 lbs and 30 lbs. Cast wheels (cheaper) get as low as 17 lbs from what I've seen. Spend an hour or so on tirerack.com and you will learn much. 18" is all about looks since there is a small loss in performance.

Actually I am curious about just what people have on their cars. I hope to get some wheels sometime around summer and am starting my shopping now. When I bought the vibe, I was doing reaserach about the perfect car for me for like 2 years straight, I tend to be (removed) about things... So, I am looking to see what kind of wheels I can buy, for the cheapest price, keeping my 16" stock tires (if I can), while still getting strong wheels and light wheels, at least as strong and as light as my stock steel, which I don't know the weight of to begin with. There. That being said, I found some on tirerack.commade by Kazera that are all at most 17 pounds, and around 120 bucks each. When I did research on the strength of wheels, I found a lot of different types such as SSF, forged (one piece and multi piece), and various casting like vacuum pressure, low pressure, and gravity, plus the word spun, which I can't figure out what that means. When looking up all of this stuff, I found really light wheels at about 11-13 pounds, but they cost usually 300 bucks each, give or take. So, this is why I have pretty much given up my blind searching and am trying to get whatever info I can from this awesome web-sight! I have also learned a lot about other car-guy stuff here too. So, basically, what I want to do with wheels is get better performance and maybe even better mileage without spending more money than I have to. I don't know if I can be any more specific than that... Thanks for any input everyone.

if you want to keep your 16s and have the best of the best wheels I would suggest going with Volk Rays, they are the lightest and strongest rims you can buy. The are priced kind of high but they are some of the sweetest wheels out there. I think 16s would be around 8 to 10 pounds maybe lighter. heres a link http://www.mackinindustries.com/rays_te37.htmlyou can also use the wheel weights link at the top of the wheel & tires forum.Personally I would of brought them but I can't afford that much rim. I'm running Enkei 18in RS7's supposeablly the weight 18 lbs, 1 peice forged.

I haven't had much time to look over the weekend, plus I am still debating whether or not it will be worth the investment. If I do get some, it will probably be this summer though, unless ofcourse you know of a good deal for like 50 bucks?

Jumping back to you question on "spun" wheels, nog, this is a process in which the wheel is formed from two large discs of aluminum, which are each mounted on a lathe, heated up and spun while being formed into an inner or outer half, something like clay on a potter's wheel. The halves are then bonded together to form a complete wheel. The advantages are that they are farily light and can be easily customized for different offsets and applications and don't require expensive molds or dies, but they tend to be easier to bend (and fortunately, also to straighten).As far as all designs of wheel strength, weight and cost, for the most part you get what you pay for, but there are some overpriced brands getting by on reputation more than value.

I have centerline forged 17" rims, I am proud to have them as I list their weight of 13#'s each in my sig....and I promptly verified upon arrival by stepping on the scale without and with rim in arm...lol...I bought them at Jegs.com for 199.00 each on sale from 299.00..no tax and shipping included...nice rims I must say! I am really happy with them

Thanks Faltline for pointing out the sale on the Centerlines. I am very happy with my RPM s. 13 lbs.! I am getting about 3mpg more and better acceleration with these, than the oem 17 wheels

I finally weighed my Konig Kaliber's .....17.5lbs (after balancing) w/ wheel weights. Not bad at all....considering what I paid

i weighed my 17" Arospeed GT RS w/ Sumitomo HTR's before i thru them on the Vibe. They were approx 36lbs. The factory 16"s with my Drag Slicks weighed around 43lbs

Actually that was kind of a stupid question on my part. I have yet to see any tire weights for less than 20lbs.
